MMD president Nevers Mumba’s nephew, Simon Mwewa Junior has ditched the party to join the Patriotic Front (PF).
Mr Mwewa says he is disappointed with “the arrogance of the MMD and UPND leaders.”
“It is because of the undesirable type of politics the MMD leadership is exhibiting that I have decided to announce my defection along with 200 other members,” Mr Mwewa said.He said the MMD is headed for extinction and is “failing to provide sensible checks and balances.”“Criticism is acceptable but the tone, language and choice of words matter.
We don’t need insults, ridicule and unpalatable language. I have moved to work with progressive minds,” Mr Mwewa said.He said UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and MMD leader, Dr. Mumba were actually De-campaigning themselves by using unpalatable language.Mr Mwewa said Zambians are tired of nonconstructive criticism and political messages bent on agitating the electorate and the general populace.
And Lusaka district chairperson Goodson Banda welcomed Mr Mwewa and appealed to him to contribute significantly to the grassroots of the party.“Welcome to a working party. Here, we embrace each other as brothers and sisters. We are hardworking and non-violent. We want to deliver on our promises.

Iam hearing this name for the first time in the Zambian politics. You have decided to put him on the headline just because he is said to be a nephew to Nevers Mumba of which I doubt if he is but all the same MMD cant be affected by this chap.He is neither a big fish nor a factor in MMD.

…just for the record, the late Mr. Simon Chushi Mwewa was a well-known figure in Zambian politics. He built Simoson Building, etc. He was mayor of Lusaka. Nevers is the “mulamu” of the late politician. It is a close relationship and hence the big headline.

After Chushi Junior, it will soon be Cosmo Mumba. Cosmo has not been a supporter of his brother/cousin. For the record, Cosmo Mumba’s father is the young brother of Nevers Mumba’s father. In English at Cousin but in venacular, Cosmo and Nevers are brothers. These two guys were residing at Simon Mwewa’s house behind Manda Hill.

The major problem we have with our Zambian politicians is that, we have a crop of leaders that put their personal interests first before those of the electorate. If PF manages to destroy the opposition it won’t be good for Zambia and even PF ordinary members. However, it will be a very big achievement for the PF leadership because they will be no one to check how they’re running the country. My humble plea to our MPs and other members of the opposition is to put Zambia first before their personal interests.

It is unfortunate that there is finger pointing now , the people who caused this are MPs who boycotted the debates and did not vote because if their had participated and voted the scenario would have been different PF would have failed to get above 90 votes to push the motion through. Eg if 48 boycotted + 87 present gives as 135 and two thirds of 135 is 90. So the MPs who boycotted wanted the immunity to be removed because if they had remained in parliament the motion would have not gone through.

Breaking News!!
Zambia’s opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema has suffered a stroke at his residence in Lusaka’s Kabulonga area. Currently arrangements are being made for him to be flown to SA for specialized medical treatment. Zambia’s President Michael Sata has issued a directive to have Mr. Hichilema evacuated to SA.

Some pipo develop diarrhoea whenever a moment passes without them thinking or talking about HH. What has HH got to do with a member of the family jungle joining his fellow trees? Spare us the nonsense and tell us about the happenings at statehouse which is a more important news item than a ka non-entity jumping from one tree to the other.
