Renard Roundly Condemned

ZAMBIA soccer team coach, Herve Renard has been roundly condemned for Zambia’s pathetic performance against Lesotho in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier in Maseru where the Chipolopolo were held to a one-all draw by minnows Lesotho.

ZAMBIA Sports Fans Association (ZSPOFA) chairperson Peter Makembo said it was clear that Renard and the technical bench were now having a problem reading games by making questionable changes to a game and not noticing that Zambia is struggling to score.

“Hervé should just excuse himself from that job. As a country we do not want to embarrass him by firing him. Same thing goes for the entire technical bench. Striker Collins Mbesuma was by far the biggest asset in that game and Renard decided to substitute him.

“I think there must be a problem between these two; even at the Africa Cup Mbesuma was being rested. In the game against Nigeria, he sat him on the bench and when he brought him on, Zambia looked dangerous and we equalised. Renard never wanted him. It’s Dario Bonetti (the Italian who coached Zambia before Renard made a come-back end of last year), brought Mbesuma back,” he said.

He also questioned the structure at Football House, saying the coaches should report to the technical director but the same technical director (Honour Janza) was an assistant coach at the national team.

He said a lot was said when FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya held two roles at one time and wondered why everyone was quite about Janza having these two key roles.

“However, the war is not yet over, we have got three games to go and we should make sure that those points we got from Sudan must work a great deal and see us through to the World Cup,” he said.

In Kitwe, most fans talked to at Arthur Davies Stadium where Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors kicked-off the MTN Premier Division Week Two match at the same time as the Zambia match, expressed disappointment over the Chipolopolo’s performance.

A visibly disappointed Robert Banda, who was one of the many fans who abandoned the Power-Warriors match to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter from a pub under the grand stand, said the Chipolopolo needed an outright victory against Lesotho.

Banda said a win was important to Zambia’s quest for a maiden World Cup appearance, saying victory could have eased pressure off Chipolopolo owing to the next two matches at home in June against Lesotho and Sudan.

“We can’t go anywhere with that bad performance – we should just forget about qualifying for the World Cup. The team is not inspiring. It is a shadow of the 2012 Africa Cup winning squad,” Banda said.

Evans Mwamba echoed Banda’s sentiments, saying there was need for the Renard-headed coaching staff to make a complete overhaul of the team by phasing out senior players whom he described as having outlived their usefulness.

Mwamba said there was urgent need to beef up the team with ambitious young talent that is able to cope with the demands of the fast-paced modern game.

“But unfortunately, it is like we are content with the same old players who have clearly demonstrated that they have nothing more to offer. The same senior players who contributed to our early elimination from the Africa Cup have continued from where they left,” Mwamba said.

i feel the coach should avoid using old retaire players. katongo should retire. the only person who was a pillar was mbesuma. the change which the coach made was a wrong one. even kalaba did northing. as zambian we lose taxpayer money for our boy whose performance is power. if these players are rich let them tell us than watching poor peformance

Kalusha and Herve have sold the qualifying to Ghana. Nothing will happen unless they are plucked out. Herve has come to like money and remember he spent a long time in Ghana. Kambwili, wake up on behalf of Zambians.

That’s why you Zambians get insulted and you complain bitterly. When things are going good you have no problem with anyone but when the opposite happens every mouth is open. Rena’s work is to coach, players should put in effort.

You even gave him citizenship now today you are saying that it was bonnetti who trained the boy for 2012 victory. You should for the better you zambians who never appreciate.

Renard should is big headed. Honestly even soccer fans are able to see that things are not okey but the coach cannot see. Changes made were pathetic. Substituted Mbesuma and left Katongo who did nothing completely. Where was Chisamba Lungu? With that type of play,Zambia is going nowhere. Even the winning of Africa Cup,that team was found already made by Bonnet, this was the time for Renard to show us that he is a really coach just like Dimatteo of Chelsea who was later sucked! So Renard is not a Coach but simply a Soccer fan, period!

Kwena chachine the players makula but the coach should know how to coach amakula so they are both to blame. The FAZ league should also improve. How can Zanaco get walloped by Pirates at home? This year’s CAF Under 20 championship finals have all our rivals: Ghana Mali Nigeria in the finals where is the Zambia Under 20?

No tactical approach as if there was no coach. Running around like headless chickens without not purpose and passion for the goal.

Useless captain. He knows he is left no nothing in him but he can’t retire.

The blame should go on the players, when the coach says we lacked “tactical displine” it means the player failed at most to follow the instruction, Kalaba, katongo,Sunzu, sinkala, musonda, were all below par, mbesuma been tightly marked should have created room for katongo, kalaba should have been able to hold the ball and make dangerous runs into the box like unfit mukuka mulenga does, Towards the end of the game when we got the goal the coach wanted to close the game, our attack was not that good so instead of completly bringing a defender consolidate the mid field so that we could counter attack with Sakuwaha who is usually a forceful player, but the players are off form, they have to find that form that brought us the cup especially players like rainford kalaba and sunzu
