Photo Pope Francis Washes & Kisses 12 Prisoners’ Feet

Pope Francis has washed and kissed the feet of 12 detainees in a youth detention centre near Rome as part of the Maundy Thursday service. The Christian ritual takes place on the Thursday before Easter to commemorate Christ’s Last Supper.

Thousands of pilgrims and tourists are arriving in Rome to attend ceremonies during the holy week ahead of Easter. In a homily, Pope Francis earlier urged priests to do less “soul-searching” and engage more with parishioners.

“It is not in soul-searching… that we encounter the Lord,” the Pope told hundreds of cardinals, priests and bishops in St Peter’s Basilica.

“We need to go out… to the outskirts where there is suffering, bloodshed, blindness that longs for sight and prisoners in thrall to many evil masters.” Worshipers should “leave Mass looking as if they had heard good news”, he added.

And on Easter Sunday morning, Pope Francis will deliver his first “Urbi et Orbi” message to the city of Rome and to the world.

@empire, that 1 z a public figa the media jst foloz him to make newz. But why 12 prisoners not 9 or 10? Iz it bcoz christ did the same wit His 12 disciple? Could it be true that the pop is the anti christ(in place of christ)?

Exactly the point sinner.why 12? And in public.i remember pope john paul the 2nd.he forgave his would be assasin and the pope asked for a sound proof room.no one knows what the two talked about.now thats what i call humbleness.anyway,lets wait and see.

Watch Israel.When you see Isralites begin to build on its original foundation where the Moslem have built their Temple(they will demolish the mosque)when you see more buildings coming up than before and more marriages as described by christ,and lastly,Pope emerging from America,then Know that the coming of christ is at your door steps.People repent and turn away from sin.There is still some chance.Amen.

@shibobo, repentance should not be based on fear, but on luv(upon realising hw much God loves u n i (sinner) by sending christ 2 die 4us). @chileshe, the pope may b the anti christ but that does not mean all catholic members are wrong! There are some(catholic) members wu re genuinely worshipping God in truth and in spirit.

I think this is just symbolic -after all, no one needs their feet washed in this day and age. Follow this with looking after the poor, convert those millions from the Catholic Church into practical real-world aid. That’s what Jesus would do.
