UPND Welcomes Lifting of Ban On Maize Exports

Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND)has welcomed government’s move to reverse the ban on exports of Maize and Maize products in the country.

UPND Secretary General Winston Chibwe has however observed that the lifting of ban within 24 hours of announcing it implies that there is a lot of confusion in the way the Patriotic Front government is running the affairs of the country.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm, Mr. Chibwe noted that such important government decisions as imposing bans that should endorsed by Cabinet should not be left to individual Ministers to avoid confusion as has been witnessed.

He further adds that the ban and lifting of the same ban respectively did not and will have an impact on the country’s food security as Zambia still has sufficient stock to export and sustain food security.
