Government Unmasks Companies That Are Mixing Kerosene With Petrol To Damage Your Engines

Mines, Energy and Water Development Permanent Secretary George Zulu has exposed has exposed illegal practices by some Oil Marketing Companies (OMC’s) who have been mixing diesel with Kerosene which they later sell to unsuspecting motorists in order to maximize on their profits.

Speaking to QFM News Mr Zulu has since called upon the Energy Regulation Board to immediately get to the bottom of the matter before vehicle engines are damaged.

Mr. Zulu has described the development as very sad as it is endangering the lifespan of vehicle engines and in turn the lives of the Zambian people.

He says the practice has also contributed to the shortage of Jet fuel because OMC’s are trying to mix it and sell it at very high prices.

The Permanent Secretary has urged the ERB to move in and bring to book oil marketing companies who are cheating Zambians.

Mr. Zulu has also warned that OMC’s found engaging in such illegal practices risk having their licenses withdrawn.

The title was going to make sense if it was written, Government to Unmask Companies That Are Mixing Kerosene With Petrol, but the way it is written you have not mentioned any company that is doing that.

    Dear Editor
Allow me to comment on the matter at hand.
I am one of the victims of this scourge. Even though I always buy fuel from authorised OMCs I had a rude shock when my car suddenly stopped and the engine could not run.
Initially I thought that the car stopped due to an airlock but after attempts to clear the air failed I called the car dealers to lift the car to their workshop for further diagnostic tests.
It was discovered that the fuel pump was damaged by contaminated fuel and the fuel pump was sent to Bosch Germany to fix. It cost me K34m (KR34,000) to have it fixed.
As you can see from the above ERB has not performed as unscruplous people from regulated reputable OMCs have sold contaminated fuel.

Expose those oil companies so that people boycott them. This is criminal and tantamount to economic sabotage.

To unmask is to reveal. No company’s name has been revealed here. Let’s have quality journalistic practices, please- not your trash.

He is running out of PF money.

From my experience in the OIL industry, technically nothing is wrong in mixing Diesel and Kerosene. The result of this cleaner Diesel. What is commonly called low sulphur diesel. Having said that, it however important to note that’s it’s an illegal act. One OMC I know doing that is Mount Meru.

@ Katele and Narrant, I SHARE YOUR VIEWS.
IT’S THE TITLE THAT SENDS READERS TO DETAIL.WHEN THE TITLE GOES NORTH,DETAIL GOES EAST,MIND GOES WEST,THE WHOLE STORY GOES SOUTH THEN IT’S A TOTAL MISLEADING-MISREADING-MISINFORMING.

@called wise sums it up better. PS Zulu should be courageous to tell the nation unless its Winter Kabifya involved. Mt Meru has been mentioned. Give us proper or accurate headlines
