STUDENTS At CBU Sleeping in Corridors

Following the ban of squating at the copperbelt university by the new Vice Chancellor, first year students have been sleeping in corridors for they have nowhere else to go. Students at CBU as well as UNZA have been squating for over a decade and half now because of the accommodation crisis faced at the two highest institutions of learning in Zambia. The new VC diceded to ban squating this year following an attempt to do so which failed last year. this development has affected the entire CBU students’ populance, for no alternatives have been provided to them.

Already, most of the boarding houses that are near the campus are full. When students protested on wednsday, the minister of education said  that this issue does not concern him, and that student will have to resolve it with the university council (which is chaired by the seme VC)

i am very disapointed with the response of Dr Phiri .Being the minister of education, He is supposed to be a father of students. Shame on you old man. For you Prof Ngoma, i am beginning to question your professorship with that unrealistic thinking. Squatting is not about economics were you make assumptions. otherwise apapena wabwelapofye.

CBU is like a prison. You really have to be tough when you become a student there. Life is so misearable.

Almost 50 years after independence with only 2 substandard universities and the population of 13 million. There is something seriously wrong with our brains we have totally failed to govern ourselves.I personally went through this situation and i understand what it feels like. The issue is not lack of accommodation,it is lack of higher learning institutions.

Lack of common sense is building six new more univeristies before addressing the challenges that the only two existing ones have. CBU has more than enough land for infrastructure development.

@comfort, u have no value of education I can assure you, and sorry for your ignorance, do u know what a mother goes through during birth, rather your birth. if she gave up the pain u would have shiting rubbish there. students want bright future, for one to gain good life one goes through hell. so just shurt up fool. Instead of sympathising you are vomitting rubbish.

pipo plz. one man’s decision is not reason enough to make us start playing cat and mouse aginst each other…instead we must think wisely and unite to come up wit a solution, student or not we are all human..if you remember the story of Johan(bible) u wud understand that history is repeating it self and we shud react the same way. in this case Jonah(VC) is on our ship(CBU) we gata throw him offshore on sea for us to land safely or else it will be one storm after the other…VAIVA DATA VAIVA””
