Death Penalty Clause Omission Cheers Rights Body

Hope for Human Rights says the move by the delegates to throw out the death penalty clause in the draft constitution gives hope to many Zambians and people on death row because everyone has the right to life.

Executive Director Smart Chanda has told Qfm News in an interview that the organisation has been overwhelmed because it has spent more time trying to sensitize the majority Zambians on how important life is to an individual.

Mr. Chanda explains that the right to life is such an important thing that any human being should appreciate at all costs.

He says Hope for Human Rights will always stand firm and ensure that Zambians enjoy their right to life.

Mr Chanda has since expressed hope that the death penalty clause will not be retained in the final document following the consensus reached by delegates at the constitution convention.

most correction centres in Zambia are pathetic,*getting corrected in an incorrect manner*we have no backup plan to decrease in mates in cells, have not built any prisons, i feel before that sentence can be lifted consider the outcomes of your actions. Make a plan B or crime will rampantly increase, oso ensure in mates bekam productive. Analyze

There are people who have killed other people by accident, that is understandable, but those who go out to kill others intentionally it is a different story. What help is there to keep them in confinement forever, it is as good as being dead. Infact this gives the government more work looking after these hardcore criminals. What these so called life activities should do is to intensify teaching these criminal to respect life. These criminals have no respect for life.

at Smart Chanda, Nonsense, you are a fool..Those chaps so caller human rights activists are just making money by 1) forming tutembab the NGO and cry loud and receive cash..you are same who advocate gay and lesbians,. If in USA death penalt is still there, why should we remove it that is just an example. Instead of going to preach to those who have killed you preach to innocent people not in prison …to hell with you whoever you are..at ba “Smart Chanda’ you actually foolish Chanda, who knows nothing about right to life..did you sit with criminals to ask them if the respect life, look at these rituals being carried out? You are not normal. They skin people alive , remove amotole and other body part, then you come and say right to life, what about the right to those who were killed, then scrap off judiciary let the jungle rule take precedence..Foolish Chanda

The death penalty should not be removed coz without it , murderers. will kill for fun. Those who kill others should not be allowed to live whether by constitution (law) or any means . Pliz , do not give these devils or murderers the right to kill our pipo coz even the lives of the dead r special …….
