Kampamba, Lubambo Picked For CHAN & COSAFA Trials
Nkana star Reynold Kampamba and Power Dynamos midfielder Lubambo Musonda among 162 players invited for Zambia’s 2014 CHAN and 2013 Cosafa Cup trials in Lusaka.
The players have been summoned to report for week-long trials in Lusaka starting from April 23-26 under Zambia coach Herve Renard who has just ended a six-week long nationwide scouting mission.
20-year-old Kampamba was last year’s top scorer on 15 goals while 18-year-old Lubambo has shown great promise in his first season at Power whom he joined this year from demoted National Assembly.
Other notable players to make the trials are Zanaco’s Roderick Kabwe and Nchanga Rangers striker Bonwell Mwape.
Both Mwape and Kabwe are the current joint top scorers in the league on three goals each in the month-and-half old season.
Also called-up is Zesco United defender Nyambe Mulenga who returns to the team after he was frozen out of Zambia selection since June, 2012.
Renard has also recalled Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Davy Kaumbwa who was first choice during Zambia’s 2009 CHAN tournament outing where the team won bronze in Cote d’Ivoire.
Other experienced hands in the team are Red Arrows Bronson Chama his club mate and goalkeeper Dan Munyao and Power midfielder Thomas Nyirenda.
Zambia will host the revived Cosafa Cup from July 6-21 in Lusaka and Ndola that returns for the first time since 2009.
Before then, Zambia have a South Africa 2014 CHAN first round qualifying date away to Botswana on June 22 in Gaborone.

Uyu Renard, that is why sometimes he gets confused. How can he call 162 players only in the end select about 26. There is a difference between trying to make a team and only admiring players. To me this coach has only been admiring players in the sense that those good ones he has chosen have ended up rotting in the doldrums without even testing a game. No wonder he has failed to produse a team with a cutting edge. WAKE UP COACH!

were is singuluma, luka lungu, joseph sitali, jackson mwanza etc these showed potential you choose 162 and leave them renard just dosnt like some of them personally. the qualification to be selected is to be zambian this is not club football. Some players who have dreamt of playing for zambia must be bitterly dissapointed.
