MP’s Daughter Narrates How She Was Raped By Lusaka Police Officer

THE case in which a Lusaka-based police officer is alleged to have raped an 18-year-old daughter of a UPND member of Parliament started in the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court.
The victim narrated before Magistrate Betty Malupenga that 37-year-old Mupwaya Chisepo of Lusaka’s Mtendere allegedly raped her in his car on November 18, 2012.
Chisepo is charged with one count of rape contrary to Section 133 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Chisepo had unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl without her consent. The offence was allegedly committed on November 18, 2012 in Lusaka.
She said on the fateful day, Chisepo met her when she went to buy air time at a shop near Hilltop Hospital and insisted to give her a lift back home but instead drove her to Chongwe and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her on the way back to Lusaka.
“At some point, he stopped the car at a bush because he wanted to urinate and when he returned, he insisted that I should go to the drivers’ seat but I refused. He then came to the passengers’ seat and forced himself on me and had sex with me.
“He pushed the seat back and removed my leggings and underwear. He also took off his trousers and underwear and had sex with me as I cried,” she said.
The victim said Chisepo threatened to kill her if she continued crying and told her not to report the matter to the police because he worked with the police at Woodlands Police Station.
She said Chisepo told her that he wanted to impregnate her and advised her not to report to the police or tell any person because he was married.
The girl said Chisepo gave her a lift on the pretext that he was taking her home but he drove to Chongwe, where he went to buy chickens from his brother’s farm.
She said when they reached the farm, Chisepo locked her inside his Mark II vehicle and within a short while, he returned to the car with the chickens.
The victim said on their way back between 16:00 hours and 17:00 hours, Chisepo passed through a bar where he bought castle lager for himself and Smirnoff Spin for her but she refused to take it.
She said it was after he took his beer and forced her to drink the Smirnoff Spin that he stopped to urinate at a bush where he had sex with her.
The victim said Chisepo took her home around 20:00 hours.
And the victim’s mother testified that her daughter narrated the ordeal to her around 23:00 hours when she arrived home from the farm.
