Buffaloes Trample 10-Man Zanaco
Green Buffaloes crashed 10-man Zanaco 4-0 away on Sunday at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka to pick up their second win of the season.
Buffaloes took the lead in the 14th minute through striker Liniker Mwikisa before his partner upfront Chipili Mungule added the visitors second two minutes later.
There was more misery for Zanaco in the 34th minute when goalkeeper Ken Mumba was sent-off for a foul outside the box on winger Allan Mukuka.
Disaster struck again for Zanaco just a minute later when defender Salulani Phiri fouled Buffaloes striker Kennedy Chola in the box.
Chola stepped-up to convert the penalty against Mangani Banda who had just replaced Mumba.
Mungule completed his brace in the 76th minute to see Patrick Phiri’s side stay unbeaten for a fifth successive match and move into fourth place on 10 points.
The defending champions Zanaco stay in mid-table on seven points from five games after their forgettable home loss.
Meanwhile at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, hosts Kabwe Warriors came from behind to beat Forest Rangers 2-1 after Owen Kaposa had put the visitors from Ndola ahead in the 41st minute.
Veteran striker Owen Mwendabi struck twice in the 58th and 82nd minutes to extend promoted Warriors’ unbeaten run to four games in which they have picked 10 out of a possible 12 points.
