Katombora Retires From Active Politics To Concetrate On Serving God

FORMER Southern Province minister Lukulo Katombora has retired from active politics to concentrate on serving God and his businesses.
Katombora, who also served as MMD member of parliament for Livingstone Central, said despite his retirement from politics, he would still serve the people of Southern Province at a different level through his church, Kingdom Impact Ministries housed at a building which used to be his bar.
“I have turned 43 years old and its time that I leave politics for others; it’s clever for me to be above politics. I want to serve my God and my businesses. It’s high time I hung the gloves and leave them for others. From today, I don’t belong to any political party. I carry the banner of Jesus and I will help the people of Livingstone and Southern Province,” Katombora said. “I am a church elder and my focus is on helping the poor people. I am going to serve the people of this province at another level and not politics. My retirement does not mean I will be quiet. I will come out and say this is a positive development when government makes a decision and I will say this is not good when they make a mistake.”
Katombora said he would not accept any political appointment if one was to come his way.
“On the list of people who were being sworn in, I was the last one, so being the first one to be fired sent a signal I was not bitter, the President never fired me, he just pushed me towards my destiny,” he said.
Katombora urged the people of Zambia to give the PF time to govern the country.
“There has been positive developmental pronouncements and one thing that makes me happy is the Link Zambia 8000 Project. If well managed, it’s going to reduce poverty in the country and create opportunities in the rural areas. Communication will be improved in the country. We should just work and ensure that the element of greed is removed from the contractors so that the economy is propped up,” said Katombora.
