Prof Chirwa: Am Ready To fly Back to UK, I Came Here To Only Help

ZAMBIA RAILWAYS Chief executive officer Prof. Clive Chirwa says he is ready to fly back to UK if Zambia does not need his services.

Featuring on ZNBC TV last night, Chirwa revealed that President Michael Sata’s Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and other senior PF governments are also enjoying the K72 million rentals a month.

“Am ready to fly back to the UK if am pushed. I came here to help and am not demanding a lot, if anything I’m the one losing much by being in Zambia.”

Prof. Chirwa who said he was ready to fly back to UK if pushed as he was actually losing a lot by helping Zambians, revealed that the K140 million salary per month and the exorbitant rentals on his upmarket villa at Fallsway Apartment was nothing for a Chief Executive Officer of his stature.

“This is nothing, in fact there are some many people staying there (Fallsway Villas), even Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, they are all there,” Prof. Chirwa said.

Chirwa revealed that it was Sata’s government that offered to take him to Fallsway Apartment when he was recalled from the UK.

He said he did not take himself their as it was government that looked for that apartment for him and that there was no tenancy agreement because the place is like a lodge, where one pays per night.

With the instant dismissal, Chirwa is further likely rake into millions of Eurond bond money as he may be paid for breach of contract.

I do recall that when the President appointed Prof.Chirwa to come and revamp ZRL, individual selfish Zambians did not welcome the appointment, and tried very much to frustrate the move. This is what is happening in ZRL.Zambia will not go anywhere.

It is funny how selfish and unpatriotic Africans can be. This man claims he is just here to help and he can do much better for himself by going back to UK? What bull? UK is what it is because there was a time when they fought to develop their country. Even if it meant using slave labour. This Professor now looks at that comfort and has the guts to tell his OWN country that “I am better off working for my former colonial master than developing my own home” Shame on you Clive. I thought you were a better man than that. Sure we cannot afford the high salaries that they will offer you out there. But thats what always happens. We are just a poor nation and all our great brains always get attracted by the glitter of our former slave masters. Disadvantaging the same poor nations where they come from. There are private companies out there that make more money than our nation Clive.
Sometimes we need that sacrifice Clive. There are still some of us who accept that we might not change the fortunes of our great nation within our generation, but still see it fit to put up a foundation our kids will thrive upon. I would rather die happy knowing that whatever little I started will ultimately liberate our future generations than to leave behind a false sense of security in millions of dollars which they will still need to spend as their master so wishes. You are a disgrace to educated Zambians. I guess my grandfather was right: Education does not bring wisdom.

Baba!! Do we need an underground train in Zambia? Is there demand for rail transportation? Do we need a dual rail line from Chingola to whereever? Is there enough demand to warranty this? This Prof made alot of empty pronouncements without telling us the nitty grit issues. You watch Discovery channel, do you think we can afford that machinery that they use to make underground tunnels? You cant just make pronouncement from your head first and then put it on paper. He has a five year contract which in itself is not enough for him to achieve any of the pronouncements that he has made. At the end of five years his contract will not be renewed. WE JUST WANT HIM TO TELL US REALISTIC PROJECTIONS AND NOT FANTASY

check whether this man is a zambian. I cannot believe my ears to hear such words coming from a learned person. Only a foreigner can say I CAME HERE TO HELP zambia. I work because this is my country. If the professor thinks UK is his country, then I doubt his wisdom. Even his white friends are laughing at him saying here is a lost zambian

Do people expect a Prof to work for free, the amounts demanded for equal to his academic and practical expirence..though we are Zambians it makes no sense to sacrifice a little when politicians can afford to bury billions & corruption is the order of the day..Zambian leaders lack transparency, truth, a social code of conduct and are allergic to development………WOE TO THE MISLEAD!

Professor Clive Chirwa. You are not patriotic. You want to enrich yourself at the expense of the Zambian people. Remember that you may seem to be clever in a classroom but you cannot be cleverer than the majority Zambians. Your arguments do not hold any water. If I were you, I would not have taken that job.

Typical Zambian mentality. If it was a white man getting that salary, no one would say a word. Because a black man is earning a proffesional salary, they complain like mad. That is why many Zambians are working abroad because of such jealousy.
On the other hand, I do not think Chirwa should have been appointed to that position in such a manner. the job was not advertised. He lacks experience because he is an academician and should be teaching instead of leading professionals.
I appeal to Zambian govt to advertise ALL govt and parastatal positions as is the case in countries that are not banana republics. Stop appointing friends and relatives

    Prof. Clive Chirwa is Right.
I write in support of prof. Chirwa especially that when he says ” i came to help Zambia and have sacrificed a lot”, that is very much correct even when some people might think is boasting or distancing himself from being a Zambian. The thing is,there are a lot of people who have selfish intrestes and are not per se for the promotion of the prosperity of Zambia.Hence, such wrangles against him. Without any doubt, the fact is prof Chirwa is an expert even though a fellow expert like prof Saasa is under estimating him. I think as Zambians lets not try to fight and compete to try to establish who is more learned or more of an expert than the other but try to realize what we can achieve collectively in the interests of fostering progress for our mother Zambia. Sacrifice in the spirit of truth is what is needed. Your brother Joseph( certificate in common sense).
