‘King Cobra’ Spits Venom, Suspends ZR CEO Prof. Chirwa

LUSAKA, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 – His Excellency, Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata, President of the Republic of Zambia, has suspended Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) chief executive officer Professor Clive Chirwa pending investigations by the Anti-corruption Commission on allegations of corruption levelled against him.

In his letter to Prof. Chirwa dated April 22, 2013, President Sata confirmed that he has suspended the ZRL chief executive officer due to several corruption allegations levelled against him.

“… I am suspending you from duty and you will be on half pay; and as part of other conditions you will have to vacate the lodge and wait in the Zambia Railways Limited accommodation until the matter is completed,” read President Sata’s letter in part.

“By copy of this letter the Anti-corruption Commission has been instructed to carry out full investigations concerning the allegations of corruption.”

And President Sata has with immediate effect appointed Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications permanent secretary Dr Muyenga Atanga to take charge of Zambia Railways Limited.

“…this will require you to take charge of the Rail Line including the Inter Mine Rail, which is so critical to the running of the mining sector,” directed the Head of State.

The PF Government reiterates its commitment to revamping the railway network that results in a rail system which will create the necessary economic drive.

The appointing authority had full information about Mr Chirwa THat is cv can the GRZ come out open on this. Is it the board or the CEO who is wrong? Many Zambians welcomed the MR Chirwa’ appointment. The need to know what is happening even now.

I expected this bulshit!! This is total madness exhibited by our commander in chief. Why? During GBM and winter saga, mr president acted ignorantly and no tangible result came up and do you call this “fighting corruption”? Or maybe you called him to dent his political career? Bastards motherfuckers!!

For all intent and purpose, consider Chirwa FIRED. He is not only a ZR liability but also to PF poltical fortunes. If Sata keep Chirwa, he has no legs to stand on regarding fighting poverty, corruption and abuse of public fund. Sata will not take that risk. Chirwa now you are pushed, please buy a ticket while u still have money. In a few weeks you will not afford

The salary was negotiated by the Government, 25% shares was rejected by the government, his company to train managemnent staff was also rejected and he accepted all these. So which corruption activities is Saasa talking about? This guy will be cleared in a more honourable way than Wynter. Be on the watch.

gud move by HEMCS. Zambia cannot afford to pay such colossal sums of money at a time when our hospitals are without medicines, when a child in katete is dying from malaria, when a pregnat woman is dying in shangombo becoz she has no access to antenatal services and when our youths are stil wetin for the promised land. Source for a local engineer whose interest will fit in the plans of the pf govt.

am compeled to coment on this interesting matter, the question is, was CHIRWA set up? was it a move to finish his political ambitions he had for zambian presidence? or was it a plan of God to show us what kind of leaders we have? i think there is something more to this than we ordinary zambians know.
This man will now be on half pay for doing nothing. i can quarantee you my fellow country men and women that at the end of the day, CHIRWA will walk scot free, so why not just fire him now and not put him on half pay suspension? we are still losing a lot of tax payers money.
as for the ACC, i wish you all the best, but in this matter, i see you not going anywhere with this case,

I do not need selfish Prof. Chirwa, there are other patriotic engineers within Zambia to run ZRL at a lower cost. Please Prof. go back and leave poor us alone, you are very inconsiderate, Zambia is just beginning to develope and you want the biggest share of the US120 million even before the rehabilitation process is begun. Shame on you!
