Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard has hit back at Keagan Mumba after the outspoken Zanaco coach said that ‘the national team technical bench and the players went on holiday’ after winning the African Cup of Nations in 2012.
Renard wondered why Mumba came out like that when everybody can see that most Zambian players abroad have been inactivity.
Since the turn of the year, key players like Isaac Chansa and Stopilla Sunzu have been ‘clubless’ while Hichani Himoonde and Nathan Sinkala only played their real competitive game over the weekend in the 3-1 loss to Collins Mbesuma’s Orlando Pirates.
Chisamba Lungu has mainly been getting 10 minutes coming off the bench for Ural in Russia while Emmanuel Mayuka has just gotten 2 minutes of action at Southampton. Davies Nkausu is in and out of the Supersport United starting line up.
In terms of game time, only Rainford Kalaba, Joseph Musonda, Chris Katongo, Jacob Mulenga, Collins Mbesuma and prodigal son Fwayo Tembo have been playing for their respective games.
With over five players lacking valuable game time, Zambia has struggled for form and that prompted Renard to take a swipe at TP Mazembe after the 1-1 draw with Lesotho.
And now the Frenchman wants Keagan Mumba to explain to the Zambian people why the Chipolopolo players haven’t been getting game time at their respective clubs.
“Mr Mumba can explain to the Zambian people, why only 2 players from Zambia are playing,” Renard asked.
“Are they on holiday in Congo? ” the Frenchman asked
When asked also if he can comment on Zanaco’s performance this season especially that the Zambian Champions were eliminated out of the CAF Champions League by Orlando Pirates, Renard referred to unwritten rule in football.
“I don’t make any comment about the another coach. I know how it’s difficult to perform at this level,” the Frenchman said in an interview.
“Those that are giving advice don’t know anything about what they are talking about,” adds the Frenchman as he lifted the lid on Keagan Mumba.
While Keagan Mumba has been raising eyebrows with the Chipolopolo Boys’ deep in form, his Zanaco side has been a shadow of its old self when they glided out results.
The two coaches clashed last year when Mumba was relegated to a ‘ball boy’ after Renard took over as under-20 coach which subsequently lost Mali and the feud started as the former Konkola Blades coach blamed the African Cup of Nations winning coach.

IF RENARD CLAIMS THE POOR PERFORMANCE IS DUE TO SOME PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS LACKING PLAYING TIME, THEN WHY DOES HE CHOOSE THEM IF THEY ARE NOT PLAYING? WHY CANT HE CHOOSE FROM THOSE WHO ARE ACTIVE? THAT IS A POOR EXCUSE. THE NATIONAL TEAM IS FOR ALL ZAMBIANS AND MUST NOT BE RESEARVED FOR A FEW WHO ARE PLAYING OUTSIDE ZAMBIA. WHAT CAN HE DO WHEN THE OVERSEAS SEASON IS OVER AND THERE IS A FIXTURE TO FULFILL?

…Keagan Mumba should just concentrate more on his club Zanaco who playing pathetic football. This guy is clueless;when they lost to Orlando Pirates he blamed Racha Kola(goalkeeper) and last weekend when they lost to Buffaloes he said that its because Racha Kola was not in goal thats why they lost…hilarious!!Renard should also put his act together and drop players like Katongo from the national team….we want maximum points in the remaining world cup qualifying fixtures.
