Total Zambia Limited and The ‘Bogus’ Human Resource
It is difficult to really understand our governments policies. The government wants to create employment for Zambian Citizens. It is therefore surprising how and why foreigners are being allowed into the country as expertriates taking up JOBS that Zambians can do.
For example I work for Total Zambia Limited, the Oil Marketing company, for fear of descrimination I will with hold my name. In Total Zambia, all the high positions have been taken by foreigners (whites), position of Finance Director is an Indian from Mauritius who is not qualified to be a finance Director and ZICA has refused to recognise him as such and has therefore been given a funny title of GENERAL SECRETARY on paper but he performs all duties of the Finance Director and is known as the FD in the office and by all Bankers. There are very qualified Zambian who can do this JOB.
The Sales and Marketing Manager is a Briton. Operations manager is a Foreigner am not sure where he is from. Let me also add that the Job of operations manager was held by a Zambian. He resigned and Total decided to bring a foreigner since they find it so easy to bring all these rerafs here as no one opposes them.
I challenge the Minister of Labour and the Minister of Home affairs to look into how all these foreigners are being allowed in Zambia and getting Job permits. This is too much and it really hurts to see these people taking our jobs and getting paid so much money yet we get paid peanuts.

Its not only at Total, but almost all multi-national Oil Marketing Company. It a pity that our Ministry of Labour is toothless. We need investigative ministry if we are to achieve the workers’ plight.

Guys lets fight for our freedom. Thank for the author. We have much qualification than these muzunguz, Chinese, mwenyez etc. Let the Ministry of labour and Home affairs take up a quick action on this issue raised.

But if their qualifications or their grades are passes only and they manage to obtain that degree what chances do they have with people who have High distinctions and Distinctions in comparison to the passes?Maybe the zambians just have presumed passes if not passes ask them to show you their exam transcripts and you will be shocked.

Mr President, we wonder how these Unqualified foreigners are getting work permits to take up jobs for qualified Zambians.We suspect a weak link at the ministry of labor.The Operations Manager that resigned at Total worked diligently for 10 years in that position, but was frustrated just to pave way for a bogus foreigner.
Mr President do something quickly.

the author is actually very right our labour ministry need to do something…something is seriously wrong. we all wonder how these guys get work permits without proper qualifications…we have alot of our own who are better place to do these jobs…please can someone responsible take action..

Zambian Government,please,please, take care of your own. I live in South Africa and work here.The South African Government tries to look after its own before they can consider outsiders. I would sugest any job advertised in Zambia should be “Zambian Citizens First” Please,Please.

i would like to thank the author who has strongly come out without fear to speak out for the toothless employees of Total Zambia who have greatly suffered in the hands of the so called french investors together with the heartless corrupt human resource manager Rhoda Mwale.it is a very disappointing thing to have the human resource who is on contract protecting her job at the expense of many Zambians.am not going to waste time talking about the jobs occupied by these cheep investors who are coming without proper qualifications.Readers of this tufweko Total employees are suffering,their conditions of their services are as bad as somebody working for a security company for both in management and Unionized employees.THE KIND AND TYPE OF SALARIES AND THE BONUSES THEY GET KUTI WALILA WATINA NOKUFYALA .The so called Rhoda Mwale who is human resource has never protected or spoken for the toothless employees of Total Zambia,when you complain about this ,she always ask pipo to resign,she always say (if you are not interested working for total just resign and go ,no one is forcing you)this is the caliber of some HR managers we have in this country,bumuzungu anikonde.my question is (who is suppose to go ,is it me or Total )this is OUR country ,IS IT NOT RIGHT TO complain whenever things are wrong ?.as an employee am entitled to better wages,their is no way the wage bill for 4 expatriates can surpass the wage bill for 145 employees,this is noses,Rhoda MUST GO THE SAME WAY SHE WAS CHASED IN THE ZESCO BOARD DISSOLVED BY MR SATA. THIS IS A TRASH OF A COMPANY WHERE STAFF TURNOVER IS AS HIGH AS FLUSHING A TOILET. IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS MORE THAN 90 OF THE 145 STAFF HAVE RESIGNED. FRAUDS ARE VERY VERY RIFE ESPECIALLY THOSE WORKING IN MARKETING. HOW CAN SOMEBODY STEAL K2BILLION AND THE COMPANY LOSES THE CASE IN COURT? IT’S THE CALIBRE OF THE SO CALLED EXPETRIATES. THERE WAS ONE MD, ALEXIS VOVK, THE CHAP WAS A CROOK AND A FRAUDSTER. HE STOLE MASSIVELY AT THE EXPENSE OF THE POOR ZAMBIAN EMPLOYEES. HE HAD HUGE OIL DEALS COMING THROUGH MOZAMBIQUE DIRECTLY TO THE MINES. HE WAS ALSO USED TO LAUNDER THE BOGUS DARBIT OIL IMPORTS FROM KENYA BY RB’S SONS. RHODA MWALE WAS JUST AN MD’S SECRETARY IN MOBIL AND ONE WONDERS HOW SHE BECAME HUMAN RESOURCE. THIS COMPANY SHOULD JUST BE CLOSED AND THE FRENCH CROOKS SENT BACK TO THEIR HOME

Its a pity that our government does not react to all this. That calls for a lot urgent attention from the gvt. Even in Zambeef, the number of the so called expatriate is too much. One needs to come to Head Office here, eesh! They are uncountabl!

We agree with our Friends at Total. Here at PUMA things have gotten to the Dog since BP left. The conditions of service have become worse than those of security guards. The management has become a TOOTHLESS yes bwana type. The MD is toothless as the foreigner finance Manager is the one who call the shots. What a shame…..I wish I could be taken back to BP.

This company has gone to the dogs. The white Directors brag that they came to make money/profit for the shareholders. It’s a pity the Zambian Managers cannot even protect their fellow Zambians.
John Chama the former Zambian Operations Manager was busy filling his stomach and buying minibuses. This was through awarding contracts to his cronies (western pumps) while they do shoddy works and put blame on his juniors who he bullied into submission by resigning. A lot of seasoned Engineers left because of the man but he ended up tasting his own medicine when they frustrated him.
Rhoda Mwale is a she-devil, a serpent in the making. She is busy employing her relatives, Chiyesu ( a boy who can barely write a report), Kakuya, Himaaka ( a guy fired by MTN), Sophie Chipoya to mention a few and all the Kaonde’s she employed like the replacement of Annie Zulu. That woman is a snake thatlicks the bazungu’s so that her contract can be extended and finish building her house. She sold a brand new vehicle to herself for a song and yet she was in the fore front to block one former employee Boyd from getting a vehicle he paid for. What goes around comes around. Management need s to check, most of people employed under Rhoda’s tenure never attended interviews because they are either friends relatives or hers. That woman should not be HR at all, I wonder if this country does not have qualified HR practitioners than having an old,retired, corrupt, toothless, ruthless, cunning woman as HR who happens to have double standards. She is squeezing the little life left in the employees. Phillip Zimba (Mobil posse) had (which he still has) a twin cab when he was Purchasing Manager but when the position was given to poor Bruce, Rhoda made sure that he does not get a vehicle. Can you call that HR management? This woman needs to go and manage animals in the farms not human beings because she is an animal with no feelings at all. Rhoda employed Fatima Chishimba as her assistant being a relation returning a favour because her daughter Chali was employed by Fatima at the bank before she left after having issues with the bank. This woman has been protecting racist Directors like Rob Fenech because of her connections in the former MMD government were she was a mistress to one of the ministers who made a her board member in Zesco were she also made sure she employed her relatives. Rhoda makes sure her relatives have better conditions than others for instance Chiyesu (former NRDC) had better conditions than Francis (former CBU) by far or Kangwa Chanda. Look at the promotions for example Sylvia who was just a secretary in Mobil now a Sales Coordinator. Earnest as a professional should not have agreed to such mediocre in your section. Heads will roll. Salaries in Total are a Total joke…tufola amachange

I would love to see the qualifications of all these chaps making noise coz even zambians working for total most of them are failures.
