Prof Chirwa is simply a lecturer and not a manager no wonder he had problems with the board. He is just used to talking and giving expert OPINION. He has never managed a company before. His own Clavel company posted Zero pound in 2012 annual reports.

He comes to Zambia and want to show as if he is a god? Kuya bebele. We made a mistake to bring him to ZRL

What a CV!! The only thing he forgot to list is his home in the UK!!! I am sure he is going to update it when he gets back “home” in Bolton. Next thing we will see is that he will claim the Villa flats he has been staying at while in Zambia as his “Zambian mansion”, seeing as how he loves to pose for photographs in front of things to massage his ego!! Come town to earth. None of that crap impresses anybody but the mediocre!

He has a CV more impressive than Bill Gates’ CV. I wonder if I should be impressed by this CV? This guy has to much theoretical knowledge. He should just be a lecturer at some university. In fact most professors always end up just lecturing. There has never been any serious business minded over-educated person in the whole world.

What an impressive CV !!! Zambia needs this man to work on the railway system !!! However, he should not be allowed to take up a 25% stake in ZRL, maybe 2.5%? He should not be a CEO but only an adviser/Expert adviser to the CEO since he has never managed a corporate organisation before !! That is my opinion.

I have no problem with his Chirwa’s academic qualifications and scientific achievements, but I have a problem with his excessive demands for money. Chirwa was at UNZA as a lecturer in the Dept of Mechanical Engineering in the mid-1980s before he migrated to the UK for his PhD studies. So he must know that a lecturer with a PhD at senior lecturer or associate professor level at UNZA doesn’t get much above the K248,000,000 per year. And yet that is what he wants as his monthly salary – that from a parastatal company that is literally on its knees! If he is a patriotic Zambian as he wants us to believe, couldn’t he have scaled down his demands to match the level of our country’s current economic status? Isn’t sacrifice for one’s country the true measure of a patriot?

THEORY & PRACTICE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. TOILETS AT UNZA ARE STINKY, YET THERE ARE PLENTY PROFESSORS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING, BIOCHEM, SOCIAL WORK ETC. LECTURING IS WHAT THIS MAN KNOWS BEST, THATS WHY HE STARTED BY RUSHING TO TRAIN (LECTURE) ZRL WORKERS WITH HIS SIDO COMPANY WITHOUT EVEN FOLLOWING PROCEDURE (TENDERING & DECLARING INTEREST).

Chirwa has really a good CV for being a lecturer, he has never been in managerial position to manage any organization apart from consultation which is simply based on theories. It is true he makes a lot of money doing consultations but he claims he is sacrificing to be in Zambia so he should be paid a heft salary. I thought this man wanted to help Zambia develop a proper and running railway system, I think he is as selfish as the politician and he has seen an opportunity to make quick money. Let him go back and we consult him if we need him!

Its a pity that we are unable to make good use of our “fine” Zambian professionals locally. If it was a foreigner with the same qualifications and exprience, we would pay without much talk.Look at what we pay for foreign fooball coaches? also note that when these fine men and women go for greener pastures, they are renumerated comensulate to their skills, and expriences. Some Countries have surpassed Zambia in terms of development using Zambian interllectuals whom we despite when they attempt to come home. I guess, Prof. Chirwa is one of the products of free Education that KK provided for Zambians, with a vision of enriching the Country with quality manpower. It is a pity that we are now wasteful of this critical product. Too bad!

This is being seen from different angles.Mine is this. What is the expected income that ZRL management had projected to be earned over the next 3 years or phase 1 period. The bottom line is what determine the salaries is the income the company will generate and the profits have to be made. So in this Chirwa project what income was he suppose to make during phase one and what amount of profit before tax was suppose to be made.

Salary whatever amount does not matter as long as it is being sustained by own generated income and the shareholders are getting dividends.

Let look it at this way, CEOs for ERB,ZRA,REA get alot of money but do they generate income the answer is no so you do not expect the CEO for Zesco, ZRL, TAZARA to be equated to these others as they are just non income generation.

well I believe in all my expertise that most silly comments are from people with canal knowledge of what an asset he is. Here’s a brief, he’s qualification is ok because he has conducted strategic and productive assessments which are phenomenon. this took a lot of thinking and studies. he runs a department which produces world class engineers, so us having him is ok because he has a certain standard, when a white man comes with the same knowledge we will scamper and find money to pay him so lets look at this in depth. if I were in-charge I would let this guy stay in Zambia. I mean after this you guys wonder why most surgeons leave you. they go to sought better pays. The reason why people like herve renard left was because you guys thought he was asking for too much. when you eventually saw why you guys looked like fools.
I wholly believe this guys standards should be met. say what you want I bet non of you have ever seen a Zambian this powerful and qualified.

Clive Chirwa should have known that he is coming to a country that’s being ruled by idiots who cannot appreciate whatever he is going to do. Those who think that Clive chirwa is asking for too much money should come to mopani Copper Mines and find out how much the CEO there gets. I knew right from the start that my role model has come to zambia so that idiots like Saasa And Chona who are not even qualified to tie his shoes can start Embarassing him.

Mother Zambia, Where are we going? When is Zambia going to work up from its docility? It seems this Country has become a target of all sorts of crooks and International conmen. Sometime back during the Kaunda regime, you may recall that an international conman all suddenly appeared from nowhere and came to cheat Kaunda that he could make Diesel from grass, as usual, Zambians fell for the idea. Had it not been for the alertness of the late General Kriston Tembo (may his soul rest in peace), the Conman could have disappeared with millions of dollars from this Country.
Now this Conman Chirwa, comes bragging that he can construct an underground railway transport system and Overhead Electric trains and again Zambians with their docility nearly fell for his idea. Surely if common sense is all it takes, the Government should have first instituted some feasibility studies into this project to ascertain whether this idea was workable in this poor and impoverished Country.
Conman Chirwa is a heartless dwarf who deserves no mercy. I doubt if this Man has the right conscious and patriotism for this Country. By the way is Conman Chirwa a true Zambian citizen? This Man has his roots in the DR Congo . It is under stood that this man migrated from Congo and came to Zambia with his Father a Congolese when he was just a young boy. He changed his name to Chirwa so that he could benefit from the free education system during the Kaunda regime.
Shortly after the death of his Father, his Mother got married to a Kenyan Man where he had two brothers. It is not clear whether Chirwa’s Mother was a Kenyan or Zambian. So this explains Chirwa’s Congolese ascent. His greedy for money and wealth, with high life style of Heaven on Earth has landed him in big trouble and his integrity will never be the same in this country again. He has lost it all.

Whatever the qualifications we are talking about a company that is not making money and then one should demand for such amounts. Thats not being rational. Maybe when it is up and running. Now tell me , who is footing this wage bill ? The tax payer and ZR is a govt entity. The powers that be have the audacity to pay one person other govt workers pension after 30 years as a monthly salary. Come on lets be serious and share the cake evenly. We also need a SALARY STRUCTURE AUDIT because we have heard of ZRA, ZESCO and others in similar set ups. SAVE OUR SOULS !!
