FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya says 10 years for the current Chipolopolo squad members is time enough for most of the players to leave the stage for a new chapter of Zambian football.
Bwalya who was speaking on the sidelines of the on-going national team trials that has brought together 162 players from the 10 provinces in Lusaka said some players had national team experience dating back to 2006 and had to leave the stage for a new generation.
Ten provincial teams have been lumped into two groups and are playing each other on a round robin as the national selectors keep an eye on the players for the three day event.
The teams are using Sunset and Barclays Sports Complex.
Curiously a team dubbed Mixed that looks like an already cast aside first team has been created comprising most of the notable names on the local scene like Roderick Kabwe,
Reynold Kampamba, Shadreck Malambo, Salulani Phiri, Khodwani Mtonga, Jimmy Chisenga among others.
“There has to be competition, the players who were in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon (2012) of course we have had that crop of players for the last 10 years,” Bwalya said.
“It is important that we come up with another set of players especially locally based that can also start today and go for the next 10-15 years.”
He added: “Our team has been there for 10 years maybe this team that we start can also be there 10 years from now.”

The problem with us human beings is that we want others to leave when we ourselves are busy clinging to the milk and honey. Kalusha Bwalya has out-lived his usefulness
