‘Government’s Approach On Gay Issue Not Impressing’
Dear Editor,
I have been following the current events in the country with great sadness, in regards to the governments reaction and treatment to the ongoing matter of LGBT people. I must strongly stress that a government that claims to be a “Christian nation” would never condone the killing nor the encouragement of lynching of the gay community who are already marginalised. The government is not only trying to make out these people into monsters by suggesting that they are child molesters, which they are not or that they are trying o encourage others to become gay as if it were some club that upon an invite one becomes gay is also untrue, instead what they are asking for is recognition and protection from the government. For proclaiming to be the Christian nation that we are then what should be preached is love and not hate. As has been the case in countries around the world that witnessed genocide,holocausts and so many other atrocities, there are a few simple steps taken to ensure that this happens,and Zambia at the moment is heading that way.
1: identification: a group of people are identified and seen as a problem for society all by fear mongering
2: ostracism: the identified people are then excluded from social acceptance,society is taught how to despise this group of people, resulting in loss of work,it becomes harder for this group to survive.
3:confiscation: this group lose any rights they might have, laws are made to oppress this group.
4:concentration: this group can be imprisoned or held at length without any representation.
5: annihilation:this could either be direct or indirect.
The above are the 5 steps taken to oppress any group the government deems as a threat,which the gay community is not. I therefore strongly urge the government to address this issue before we start to witness any deaths and justify ourselves as a Christian nation by quoting bible versus that are suitable to your situation. As or the animal kingdom which has been used as to justify why animals are not gay,this is simply because humans are far more intelligent than animals otherwise we would have rats in cabinet.
