A 40-YEAR-OLD man pleaded with the court to put a restraining order to stop his former wife from following him.
Francis Katewo, 40, said he is tired of being followed by his former wife, Ange Balabwiga, who he divorced in 2011.
But his wife told the court that she reconciled with her former husband so they can take care of their three children together.
Katewo, a Rwandese national was speaking before senior court magistrate Morgan Kayanika and Moses Phiri in a case in which he wants the court to put a restraining order against his ex-wife, Ange Balabwiga, a Congolese national to stop following him.
The two got married in 2000 but later divorced in 2011. They have three children together.
He also said Balabwiga, dumped their three sick children on the roadside barely six months after their divorce and he has been taking care of them.
“I was forced to take care a breastfeeding child using milk formula after their mother dumped them on the roadside,” Katewo said.
He said he is shocked that his former wife keeps frequenting his shop despite having divorced.
Katewo said his family met with that of his former wife to resolve the matter after which they agreed to contribute K14 million so she could start a business.
He said his former wife demanded to be in custody of their three children after she was given the K14 million to start business but that after two months, she started following him again and requesting for rentals.
“She brought strong men to get goods from my shop but when we tried to restrain them. They overpowered both the police and myself. At this point confusion erupted and cars were smashed. We were put in custody but later released. I was told to pay for the two cars that were broken as a result of her behaviour,” Katewo said.
He said he does not want to be near his former wife and will never reconcile with her because she is capable of killing him.
But his former wife, Balabwiga said she can not leave her husband because they have passed through a lot of hardships together.
“We used to live in the bush when we were running away from war in Rwanda before coming here. This is why we reconciled so that we keep our little children together. But I know that he just wants to leave me because I asked him to pay rentals for me,” she said.
The matter was adjourned awaiting judgment.

Men are like that. Once they have achieved something they look down on their spouses and start even resenting them as being below their new status.
This Rwandese now wants to marry someone new who he thinks will fit his current status. This kind of vagueness can repeat itself in reverse where the new wife will leave him after she gets whatever she has targeted. This is not love but lust and greedy for material earthly things. What a shame for this poor woman and the little children.
