President Sata has declared that his government will only take development to areas where people vote for the Patriotic Front-PF-.
He says it does not make sense to take development where people vote against the ruling party.
He has further directed all Chiefs in Southern Province to work with the PF government or risk not having development.
Mr. Sata was speaking at Chikata Palace in Southern Province where traditional leaders had gathered to thank him for appointing Daniel Munkombwe as Southern Province Minister.

Most people think so ordinary. Where this statement emanates from is that, if an area does not support the rulling party, their MP(opposition) will always oppose the development agenda as well. So if some areas do not have the ruling party’s MP, PF will not manage to take development in such areas. MPs make development agendae for their Constituencies but opposition MPs would like to show their pipo that the govt is not doing anything so that they can be voted again. So, the statement stands. If you do not support the governement of PF, PF will not take development there. How is the Minister of Works and supply going to initiate a project not formulated by its MP? How? How can even the President going to dictate to the people that you need a University there? he could be embarassed by its MP that its his priority.
The development meant here is of a local social nature. We are not talking about national features here. If we need a Bridge at Kazungula, its not up to the MP. Its contained in the 5th National Development Plan and would be implemented where kadansa like it or not.

very dull analysis..its clear you cannot think for yourself. Wouldn’t taking development to opposition areas be the best way of convincing the people? Do we need an MPs approval to build a bridge or road in a constituency? I suppose areas with PF MPs are witnessing unprecedented levels of development…Luanshya town must be booming now with all their PF MPs.

by the way roads and bridges are some of the ‘local social’ problems being faced in most areas.

Then whats democracy? If the ruling party is supported throughout the nation then it means we r’ getting back to the one party state. We need the opposition in place.

This is an impeachable offence. The Constitution of Zambia provides for multi-party democracy and forbids discrimination based on political pursuations. Does the President read the Constitution?
The opposition should seek a judicial review of this matter, at least!

We urgently need a federal system. The taxpayers who enable governments to carry out developmental work and service to their citizens include those who voted against the ruling party. How can you say that Mr President??? This is unacceptable and is contributing to the negative view that Zambia is now commanding around the ratings’ fraternity. Please ameliorate that statement as soon as possible!

First, fire your political advisor coz I think he is a joker. People are in your hands and so you in God’s hands unless you ant to change that. Oh, I know that can be arranged… The same Rupia can start pursuing you even for what you didn’t do.
I say kindly watch it! You are president because God assessed from the participants standing at that time not that you are the best so far. Peace!

I wish I didn’t vote for this President! Surely in the hard fought for multi-party demecracy you still find leaders who think like him, shame! But, what does plan to do with tax from the 57% who did not vote for him. Anyway, lets have a new Constitution to take care of this cancer.

If the president said those words I see then we should be disappointed. Development, like happiness and love, must be universal. If anything, I would develop more in areas that I lose so that I gain more support.

Even in areas where my party loses, I have supporters, only that they are outnumbered. So if I do not develop that area, my supporters suffer as well. OUT OF MANY WE ARE ONE (Jamaica).
