Fr. Frank Bwalya Apologises To Zambians for Keeping Quiet under PF, Promises Comeback After 40 Days

frankFormer Zesco board chairperson Father Bwalya has apologised to the Zambian people for keeping quiet when PF is busy making mistakes.

Fr Bwalya who was speaking on MUVI TV Sunday evening, said he quit ZESCO to become free and unencumbered by anything, so that he can once again speak for the people of Zambia.

“I am back. I apologise to UPND leader HH and MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba for not speaking out for them when they were arrested on flimsy charges on Livingstone and Kitwe, respectively,” said Father Bwalya.

Fr. Bwalya explained that he decided to resign from ZESCO last Thursday as people could not take his position on various governance issues as they portrayed that he had been compromised by the job.

He cited the story in Daily Nation on the constitution that he claims portrayed him as one who had been sent by PF to sabotage the people’s wishes in the constitution.

He said the story had angered him a lot and vowed to take legal action against the paper adding that because of his job at ZESCO it was difficult freely to either criticize or commend government.

On the corruption fight, he said President Sata should marry his talk with deeds. Fr. Bwalya said the people were losing hope in the PF campaign promises. He said he hoped President Sata’s statement advising the Anti-Corruption to notify him before investigating a Minister was a slipping of a tongue.

Father Bwalya however expressed happiness that former president Rupiah Banda’s immunity from prosecution had been removed. He maintained that he wants to see president Michael Sata succeed but said PF has started behaving like the MMD when it was in power.

Fr. Bwalya who passionately heavily campaigned for the ruling Patriotic Front and Mr. Sata to a point of beheading a chicken at a public rally said President Sata is paddling the boat (PF symbol) alone and if that continues the boat is going nowhere.

The Roman Catholic cleric denounced the PF government for wasting resources on a series of needless by-elections.

“Instead of wasting money on by-elections, they should pump that money to needy areas in the nation. ZESCO needs money to stop the load-shedding, let the money be pumped into ZESCO instead of these stupid By-elections which they are causing,” he said.

On judicial reforms, Father Bwalya said the PF government has done nothing in that regard.

In apparent reference to perpetually acting Chief Justice Chibesakunda, Father Bwalya said:

“Does it mean that if people are old then they must appoint fellow old people? When then will the younger people take leadership positions if we keep having the same recycled people from UNIP days?” he asked.

But Father Bwalya declared his love for President Sata to whom he said he owes his life “because had MMD retained power they would have killed me that is why I want President Sata to succeed”.

He believes Mr. Sata has a heart for the poor but may just now be a lone paddler of “Ubwato” with no support from colleagues.

The Catholic Priest who launched a red card campaign against MMD in 2011 to signal time had come for the party to go says he has now raised a white card for PF. He said the white card which he displayed during the programme was a sign of caution to the PF government.

“We have started blowing the whistle,” Fr. Bwalya said after he blew the whistle on the programme. “The referee is saying play on but please stop talking about HH’s (Hakainde Hichilema) account, stop talking about people of Southern province will not get development.”

The cleric said he never supported PF in order to be rewarded with a job and all he ever asked from PF was a scholarship to go and study law abroad to return to Zambia later and serve the poor.

But he said now he would decline a scholarship from PF even if they offered him one as that window has passed.

He reminded the PF administration not to forget the sufferings of the people and not concern themselves with lofty things when the Zambian people want their staple food provided.

“Why get upset over the brown grass when a lot of people are suffering? That is an insult to the people,” said Fr. Bwalya in reference to the recent situation where Sata got annoyed with his State House Staff over the poor state house grounds and grass.

He revealed that he was writing a book entitled ‘I am My Decisions’.

Asked to comment on President Sata urging priests to stick to the pulpit and not to get involved to politics, Fr. Bwalya said the church used the same pulpit to campaign for him in 2011.

“President Sata should not have said that; he should not have said the clergy should stick
to the pulpit,” Fr. Bwalya said. “We campaigned for him from the pulpit.”

Fr. Bwalya concluded the interview showing pictures of him in custody in Kalulushi where he says was arrested for protesting against the stealing of votes for Sata in 2008 elections.

He also showed a picture of himself in the tree campaigning for Patrick Mwanawasa with some people under the tree which is interpreted as:

“You can’t climb a tree alone, leaving those under the tree to suffer, thinking you are clever”.

Fr. Bwalya said he was on 40 days retreat and prayer reflecting on his life and would reveal the next direction he was to take after quitting ZESCO.

Did Fr Bwalya told the viewers that the alternative person after Sata is Hakainde if not then becareful at the end of the day you will al look foolish.Fr Bwalya was some how too close to Mr Sata why not requesting for an odience with him on govenance issues before declaring war with the man he himself campaigned so hard at that time?Fr Bwalya is a very intelligent man and was supposed to exhaust all these channels before btreaking loose. Am dissapointed really.

When the 40 days are over please come to chingola and see how the people who followed your advise and voted for the PF are suffering.tomorrow about 600 employees of U&M will be made redundant as a result of Konkola Copper Mines refusing to renew a conntract with U&M mining company a brazillin firm. The Government is quite as if nothing is hapening.

Fr. Bwalya has an explained ambition. Whilst we appreciate the fact that HE the president can make some mistakes, that doesnt warrant the father to denounce Michael in public. If the Fr is a genuine person he should have visited the president and explain things out and not to embarass his govt. Fr. must tame his tongue before he is helped to. He is very childish.

Electrical and Theology what is the relationship? Pressure made him to step down. Chairing a board meeting is different from preaching to a congregation. Board members at ZESCO are learnt people whom Fr Bwalya failed to chair “uwawa tabula Kabepesho”

But Mr. Bwalya said in an interview that he will not shy away from criticizing the PF government whenever it made policy mistakes.
He said he will go to ZESCO to work towards helping the power utility improve service delivery.
“I want to assure the people that Fr. Bwalya will never be compromised. I will continue speaking for the voiceless with or without this appointment,” Fr. Bwalya said.
This is what Frank Bwalya said when he was appointed last year. One will ask a question on what changed for him to come back and said that he lost his voice as Board Chairman Zesco. From my simple analysis, Fr Bwalya is not telling Zambia the whole truth. In short he is telling a lie, and a big one for that matter.
Why is it lucrative for Fr Bwalya to start trading in cheap lies like the one he has advanced over quiting ZESCO board?
It is possible, this man did something wrong as a board chairman and the best way out was to resign. It does not sound like the reason anyway. Maybe, he helped a girlfriend to get a job in Zesco. Again, there is no record of Fr Bwalya to have a girlfriend otherwise the whole Zambia will have known after the punches with RB. So what could be the reason?
I think this man thinks that he is ready to be the sixth Zambian president. This sound like the near truth and a very good opportunity to trade off his ZESCO board chairman position. Probably, hence the first warning shots on Sata not to harass his opponents.
mmmm, but the whole idea is not Fr bwalya’s. By the way of Fr Bwalya stands as the Zambian President, he will definitely win Copperbelt. He has a very good support. Coming back to my theory of Fr Bwalya becoming the 6th presido, two possibilities:
    1. He could be sponsored by the catholic church so that once he is presido, then the church can come in with it’s antichrist, i mean stripping Zambia as a christian nation, the so called gay rights, etc…
    2. Sata after suffering a heavy setback with kabimba could be thinking of Bwalya to carry his legacy as the future PF
Anyway guys, this article could be a pure dream, but it could also be very true.

Father Bwalyas, Mulongots, etc play pivotal roles in the face of fragmented opposition, slunted press and disfunctional Civil Society Organisations. However murky their motives, their voices always keep government(s) in check. The late Presido Mwanawasa admitted as much. Keep at it Padre; the nation needs more of your sort in this our defacto one-party state.

The only thing to do in this country is to fight corruption in zambia, only if we work together as zambians and the govt should arrest the culprists and they should not be leased on bail, than when we can manage to fight the disease.we need clean politicians not criminals who can jump from one party to another as if they are prositutes.Nowonder they are not able to put a law which prevents changing parties as if they own the country like kantemba using tax payers money in the expenses of National developement.

One thing that baffles me .. you were chairman of the board at ZESCO why did you not stop ZESCO asking for a rise in tariffs? See how ungodly this nation has become, the price of fuel has been increased by more than 21%, ZESCO might also increase by similar margin, and the water utility companies will do the same, then the MP’s will ask for a rise, next budget … all who drive will pay more for importing the vehicles and spare parts. lastly all those that will ask for a pay rise will be termed ‘enemies of the state’. FATHER SPEAK FOR US .. we also want to look like the MP’s.
