Sad development. The frequency of accidents on the Lusaka Kabwe stretch perhaps is an indication that the road requires some modifications. RATSA must do a study and do something about this road.

Last week, while i was in Kabwe, there was another accident on the same road involving a Toyotaa Hiace minibus. Fortunately, my clergy friend who was coming for a christian congress to Kabwe and all passengers came out alive and kicking.

You are right. Lusaka – Kabwe road is too busy not to be a dual carriage way system. And you do not find provisions where you have double lanes on one side to facilitate quick passing of slow vehicles except as you enter Lusaka, or leave whichever direction you are heading. We need as a matter of urgency to have Lusaka – Kabwe road redesigned/broadened in some portions if we are to see reduced road carnage on this highway.
Condolences to the victims’ families. MTSRIP

In my view I think most of these accidents are caused by our foreign drivers. If we remember very well, we had an accident which was caused by white farmer from Mkushi who is another foreign. Does this mean that foreigners have come to finish us in our own country? No no no no we shouldn’t allow such a thing to happen again. May all the souls of those that have died rest in eternal peace.

I think this reporting is not accurate. The state media, ZWD and LT reported that the mini bus had a Tyre burst and lost control and hit the oncoming truck.

Sad news indeed just like every one has described it. Truly the matter deserves quick attention from the relevant authorities if we are to see a reduction as regards accidents. we can not continue to loose human beings in this manner. if it pains ZAWA to loose one elephant then how much more will it pain us human beings to loose our fellows. May the affected families find comfort in our Lord savior and God almighty. RIP

The Government through RDA must give Lusaka~Ndola dual carriageway urgent priority. Existing road cannot handle the volume of traffic. This is an internationsl road, so funding can come from external sources also

Very sad new. My condolences to the berieved families. Will the president pay as much attention as he paid to the Post Bus victims? He set a precedent. Or maybe these are few. Let’s wait and see.

Really sad, such is expected of increased traffic and therefore gvnt should be pro-active, expand and make better roads. Advice to all fellow drivers “please do your pre-start checks before you take off”

Ba ‘tumfweko’ did the tuck loose control or it was the bus’s tyre bust that caursed the accident?

Assuming the bus carried 16 passengers (maximum capacity on long chassis hiace), plus the driver (=17) then the 18th victim was from the truck. If all 18 were in the bus, it was overloaded. Anyway, tumfweko promises details. Condolences.

LUSAKA-KABWE ROAD SHOULD LONG HAVE DEVELOPED INTO A DUAL CARRIAGE WAY. ACTAULLY, IT SHOULD GO UP NDOLA. FELLOW ZAMBIANS PLEASE LET’S DEVELOP AS PER DEMAND OF OUR GROWTH-RATE. OUR INFRASTRUCTURE HAS REMAINED THE SAME SINCE WE WERE ONLY 6MILLION, AND NOW WE ARE OVER 13 MILLION – AND THE TRAFFIC VOLUMES HAVE INCREASED MORE THAN 3 THREEFOLD. WE NEED DUAL CARRIAGE WAYS FROM L/STONE TO NAKONDE, MONGU TO CHIPATA, KAPIRI TO CHINGOLA, CHINGOLA TO SOLWEZI AND CHINGOLA TO KASUMBALESA.

This does NOT make sense at all: “The Zimbabwean truck is reported to have have gone off road and hit into a Toyota Hiace bus that was carrying passengers”. If the truck “went off the road” to hit the Toyota, are you saying the Toyota was not ON the road, but was already off the road itself when the truck also left the road to go and hit it? Very poor journalism and poor English!! Only in Zambia!! And I dare you to post this instead of always hiding behind “your comment is awaiting moderation”, crap!! Cowards.

We like making money at a cost of life. the only solution to this is the railway systems and ensure that no trucks are being used to move goods on the highways – more so at night. like in the olden days of super Ken. no bus and trucks to continue moving after 18:00 hours.
