Dear Editor,
THE trading of insults by politicians is very demoralising to the upcoming and vibrant young politicians and general public.
It is not good for our democratic society.
This culture has almost become a norm. What is the solution to this problem?
I feel as long as those who are insulted continue responding, there will be no stop to the insults.
It should, therefore, call for a lot of courage for the insulted or ridiculed not to answer back.
We the citizens want to hear progressive pronouncements or positive checks and balances, not insults.
Political maturity entails doing things differently and positively to win the hearts of the electorate.
Let us strengthen our arguments by offering solutions because insults will never offer solutions to the poverty levels in the country.
We are missing a lot of news at the expense of these insults, please!
WISDOM MUYUNDA.

Wisdom you are so right. People have this mistaken belief that if you insult then you are showing bravery… you become a hero. Its a carryover of the struggle against authority in the Second Republic. Then people couldn’t speak against authority and they may have started seeing themselves as cowards so they are now trying to make up for it. Its even worse when you read Zambian blogs. They are all about insults insults insults.

Look, what we need is an all out, no holds barred, CIVIL WAR! We need a few hundred thousand people dead, women raped, properties looted, people brutally maimed, blinded and stuff like that. We need all politicians running scared of murderous mobs and crowds of angry people. Let politicians wives and children be killed and rot in the streets. Then we should have peace that people will appreciate. Till then the ***** politicians will ratchet up the tension. Till we kill a few of them and their clans! Maybe then people will be happy. I will not!
