SATA Tells Zambians Not To Panic When He is Gone ‘There are People Capable Of Succeeding Me

sata and lubindaBy JIMMY CHIBUYE
PRESIDENT Sata yesterday allayed fears of a leadership vacuum in the Patriotic Front (PF) once he leaves the presidency, saying the ruling party has many capable senior members.
Mr Sata said contrary to assertions that there is no person in the PF to take over from him, the ruling party is full of leaders waiting to succeed him.
The President said this in Lusaka yesterday when he graced Labour Day celebrations held at the Freedom Statue.
“Even if I die today, my life does not belong to anyone but to God. Go and tell them, those who are saying there are no leaders in the PF, that even if I die today we have too many leaders in the PF who are willing to take over from me. They are not fighting but just waiting,” he said.
President Sata said MMD president Nevers Mumba and UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema have been shunning national events because they are ashamed of their lies about his alleged ill health.
Mr Sata said it is regrettable that Dr Mumba and Mr Hichilema, who are aspiring to rule Zambia, are busy wishing him dead instead of discussing means of developing the country.
“As you can see, Dr Mumba and Mr Hichilema are not here because they are ashamed about the lies they have been preaching that Mr Sata is sick and he will die,” he said.
President Sata wondered what kind of leaders Dr Mumba and Mr Hichilema are, wishing other people ill or dead.
He said the two opposition leaders should not be shunning national events if they want to rule the country one day because their voters are found at the same events.
“If you are aspiring to be leaders of this country, come and celebrate functions with your workers,” President Sata said.
And the Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) and Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) said it is disappointing that opposition political party leaders have put their weight on issues which are detrimental to national development.
FFTUZ president Joyce Simukoko said it is disappointing that the opposition were not part of the Labour Day celebrations yesterday.
“We are very disappointed that opposition parties are not here when workers belong to different political parties. We must change our culture because we are a developed democracy. We should learn to engage one another despite our political affiliation,” Mrs Simukoko said.
And ZCTU president Leonard Hikaumba said it is sad that opposition political leaders have adopted a culture of name-calling.
Mr Hikaumba said the labour movement wants to see leaders of different political parties engage the President on matters relating to national development.

If they gave the Mantle to Given Lubinda, even those people who feel that pf is for bembas, will definately be defeated and the whole nation will unite including the lozi people and other provinces. I feel if Given is given a chance, I will be more than a PF than non- party cizen

President SATA is speaking the truth a true leader does not fear death but prepares children emotionary and guides them well to be gud citizen. This man we tend to critise surprises me he faces life with reality. God help him this job you gave him to continue during his tenure.

Zambians every leader had something gud we shd benefit from, let us elect leader to continue where the other stops from,do not personalise your interest.Utillise every leader to develop Zambia. As president Sata came he will leave to the other to coninue.Live long Mr President until God say no.
