Lusaka Man Denied Sex For 3yrs, Files For Divorce

A Lusaka man lamented to the Kanyama local court how his wife has denied him of sex for three years.
This was heard before Justices Gastone Kalala and Ng’andu Mukuka in a case where Bridget Mweene, 23, of garden house dragged Moses Mulenga 36, also of Garden House to court for divorce.
The court granted divorce with no compensation.
Mweene told the court that the duo have been married since 1994 and have two children but problems in their marriage began in 1997.
She said Mulenga suddenly began spending nights away from their home, sometimes for four days, claiming he was taking care of his brothers’ bar.
Mweene said whenever it pleased him, he would phone his wife from the bar and request his daughters to go there and get food from him.
She said if she asked him when he would go back home, Mulenga would tell her that it was imperative for him to look after his brother’s bar because some property would get damaged if he didn’t.
“Your honour, I wonder why my husband is obsessed about looking after the bar when the owner (his brother) goes back home to his wife and children,” she said.
Mweene said the peak of their problems began some two weeks ago when an in-law gave her some chitenge materials while on her way to a funeral.
But when Mulenga saw her later clad in them, he questioned where she got them from and accused her of having gotten them from her boyfriend.
An irate Mweene said Mulenga was in such a rage that he threatened to kill her but she thought he was joking.
She was jolted to reality when Mulenga throttled her causing their children to join in the scuffle to save their mother from near death.
“Your honour, I’m scared for my life and this is why I’ve decided to divorce this man.
And in his statement, a soft spoken Mulenga told the court that he did not want to divorce his wife because he loves her very much.
To start with he said, they had no problems in their marriage but trouble began when they shifted to a house they built in Garden House area.
He said when Mweene was a cadre in the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD); she was privileged to buy a plot on which he built a house.
But when they shifted there, he said, Mweene’s attitude toward him became hostile that she stopped cleaning the house, cooking, and washing for him.
“Your honour she even started refusing to have sex with me. Can you imagine, for three years now we haven’t had sex. I even told her that I want some more children but she refused. How can I have only two children at my age. he said.
Justice Kalala also ordered that they sell the house and share the proceeds or one of them buys it from the other.
He added that they share all house hold goods but the judgment didn’t seem to sit well with Mweene who said the house belongs to her as well as all the goods as she is the one who was buying everything while Mulenga said he was equally entitled to the house as he contributed to building it.
Justice Kalala advised Mweene to appeal if she was not satisfied with his ruling.

this story does not make any sense. The woman is 23 years and they were married in 1994 when she was 4 years! Please ba tumfweko give us a break!

Title says husband files for devorce. Story reads wife dragged husband to court. Problems started in 97 & she had to wait 16yrs to go to court. Surely she married at 6! Tumfweko!!!

Ha Ha Ha. Me too also i was suprised at the ages given in the story.The guy was 17 in 1994 and he married a four (4) years old girl. He shud be arrested with this revelation.
