Health Minister Joseph Kasonde says 50 percent of people living with HIV and AIDS are already responding well to the new anti-retro viral drug, Truvada.
Dr Kasonde has disclosed that the ministry of Health is very careful with ensuring that people living with HIV and AIDS are given adequate treatment and attention.
Dr. Kasonde says it is also important to note that people living with HIV and AIDS may take time to respond to treatment and others many respond quickly depending on their CD4 count and other health complications.
He explains that the ministry of health is still closely monitoring the progress of all patients who are on the anti- retro viral therapy Stavudine but have now changed to Truvada due to some side effects such as paralysis.
And Dr. Kasonde says there enough drugs for anti -retroviral therapy treatment.
The Health Minister has since called on all medical personnel to always give in their best when handling people living with HIV and AIDS.
