Amnesty International Orders Release of Two Gay Men

Amnesty International has  called for the immediate release of Mr Mwape and Mr Mubiana, the two gay men that were recently arrested in Kapiri Mposhi saying it regarded them as prisoners of conscience.

“The arrest of the two men solely for their real or perceived sexual orientation amounts to discrimination and it is in violation of their rights to freedom of conscience, expression, and privacy,” said Simeon Mawanza, Amnesty International’s Zambia researcher.

The men pleaded not guilty during a court appearance  to a charge of engaging in homosexual acts.

James Mwape and Philip Mubiana, both 22, were been charged with four counts of committing “unnatural” sexual acts.

If found guilty under the Zambian law, they can be sentenced up to  14 years in Jail.

Those guys are homos and their rights are never recognised here in zambia.

There is a difference between conduct that takes place between two consenting adults and conduct occasions harm to other people. The law rightly prohibits the latter. Whether it should persecute people that conduct the former is questionable. The reality is you cannot put the two in the same category.

A call to respect and protect gay rights does not extend to protection of adults who have sex with children. Gay rights are about protecting minority people who have a different sexual orientation. These people are adults who have consensual sexual conduct in privacy. We do have gay people among us. They are our relatives. Hating them does not help anyone. Hating people to the extent of wanting to kill is a crime in many jurisdictions. Locking up someone adult for being born they way they are is an extreme form of cruelity. Lets have a sober debate. There is nothing Christian about inciting people to murder and harm someone. If you find yourself filled with such hatred please kneel down and pray.

Its like you’re blaming God for creating a woman. God knew very well that the best companion of any man is a woman. Why creating short cuts? What we shall be doing is to carry what we call extrajudicial killings. If discovered in the neibourhood has to be killed before the presence of any police.

    • Hmmm Reply

      May 9, 2013 at 9:08 pm

What are extra judicial killings? What you will be perpetrating sir is murder. You have no authority to carry out executions. It is funny how you believe in God and are familiar with the fact that He created man and woman and yet ignorant of the fact that He created gay people too. So what gives you the right to call for their killing. Secondly, it is funny how you ignore the fact that the Ten Commandments, written by God, say absolutely nothing about homosexuality but are very clear when it comes to killing. I do not know if you suffer from schizophrenia, have deliberately chosen to be selective in which bible verses you follow or whether you are nothing more than an ignorant fool.

What kind of backwardness are zambians showing to the world ?being gay is the same as being born say with half a leg you can’t change that ,why should you be arrested?for it.Zambia must quickly repeal all these primitive laws which were enacted during stone age era ,we now have more data wth regard to being gay .It basicaly a complex interaction of electronic data within the brain which leads the individual to assume a sexual orientation different from others the person concerned has no control over that.It laughable to tell some one that because you are a short person in a family of tall people you are not their brother or sister.

Sometimes I feel like invading these places of terror to free homosexuals from their shackles, but a diaspora doesn’t work for us, because our heterosexual parents keep on having gay babies. Oh well, our own past isn’t so innocent. It was an imprisonable criminal offence for men to have a romantic relationship with each other until only a few decades ago in almost all of the West where we are now protected from discriminations.

OUR LAWS, “WRONG OR RIGHT” SHALL REIGN SUPREME IN ZAMBIA UNTIL SO REPEALED. IF YOU WISH SO MUCH TO PROTECT GAY RIGHTS YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE SUCH SUBMISSIONS TO THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTION REVIEW COMMISSION FOR THOSE RIGHTS TO BE ENHRINED IN THE CONSTITUTION. AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT COVERED BY LAW, SAME SEX MARRIAGE OR SEXUAL INTERCOURSE IS AN OFFENCE. WHY ARE THE GAYS THEMSELVES NOT LOBBIMG THE NATION FOR ACCEPTANCE AND PROTECTION? ITS BECAUSE CONCIOUSLY THEY ARE AWARE THEIR CONDUCT IS TABOO AND UN ACCEPTABLE IN THIS SOCIETY, HAS BEEN UN ACCEPTABLE FROM TIME IMEMORIAL AND SO SHALL IT REMAIN. “ZERO TOLERANCE TO GAYISM IN ZAMBIA”

UNFORTUNATE…., FROM TIME IMEMORIAL THE ZAMBIAN COMMUNITY HAS IN ALL RESPECTS ABHORED GAYISM. CHRISTIANITY WAS EXPORTED TO THIS LAND BUT WAS EMBRACED WHOLE HEARTEDLY AND IS NOT LIKELY TO BE CASTOUT IN THE NEAREST FUTURE. BECAUSE IT REPRESENTS SOMETHING GOOD, THE COMMUNITY HAS EVEN ENSHRINED IT IN THEIR CONSTITUTION TO PROTECT IT. NO THEORISING, THINK PRACTICAL.

If gay rights are human rights, then even thieves have a right because they have reasons to steal and they are born like that. In the name of rights; if a man can sleep with a fellow man and we call that a right then a man can also sleep with a dog if he feel like doing that. Are these human rights organisation still going to promote that? Someone will wake up one day and feel like sleeping with his mother, is that what you can call a right? In the near future if left unchecked, we will find that people are marrying and getting married to animals, still such will be encouraged as human rights. Zambia is a Christian Nation and it should be built on the principles of Christianity. Are these human rights organisations clever than God who created man and woman in His image and blessed them to fill the world? If not for a man and a woman to meet, was Mwape and Mundia going to be born? Our Constitution is the supreme body of the land and therefore it must be upheld at all times. We urge our leaders to protect the nation from this insanity just as Islamic countries protect their lands.
