People’s party president Mike Mulongoti has appealed to government to reverse the decision to scrap off the maize subsidy for the sake of the majority poor Zambians.
Mr. Mulongoti says there is need for government to take into consideration the majority Zambians who are unemployed and cannot afford a descent meal in a day.
Mr. Mulongoti explains that it will only be fair to the Zambian people if government rescinds its decisions on the subsidies which will affect the poor more.
He has urged the government to find the right way of handling the current fuel and maize subsidies carefully for the benefit of all Zambians.
Mr Mulongoti adds that government should also think seriously and protect the interests of the majority Zambians who pay tax.

We can not keeping surving on cosmetic prices. In my view, its better the subsidies re removed so that we work around a real problem. Its the duty of the gornment opposition inclunsive to start working measures to to find lasting solutions to the expected increase in mealie meal prices. On the other hand,I hope this will triger a relief in PAYE reduction since it seems as if most of our contributions have been going back to consumption other than other social services like provisions of drugs etc.Its better we face the reliality that mealie meal is high than leaving in a dream of thinking the price of mealie meal is low when in actual sense its not.Only by facing the problem can the price of mealie be effectively mitigated.

You members of the Pa Fwaka government are just a bunch a thieves and lies. Just because you get free fuel you want the price to go up for those who pay hard earned cash for it. What about the poor people who now cannot afford the increased bus fairs, increased mealie meal prices, increased cement prices, increased sugar prices, increased everything. Zambia is becoming a failed state because of the greedy people in power. honestly how can a ministry have three deputy ministers all getting free fuel
