President Sata has also called for the expulsion of all students that protested this morning.
The head of state sounded the order shortly before he laid ground for the contraction works for Palabana University in Chongwe district this morning.
President Sata has also accused United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema for allegedly dishing out money to students at University of Zambia Great East campus and Copperbelt University to protest against government’s decisions to lift the fuel and maize subsidies.
Qfm staffer Yande Musonda reports that President Sata also commended Chieftains Nkhomeshya for her developmental ideas she has been executing in her chiefdom.
The head of state assured chieftains Nkhomeshya that the Patriotic Front government will remain committed to implementing development projects in her chiefdom.

there is no democracy at UNZA, and could be a source of something the nation (parents) hoped for. while ordinarily students may have a cause, many times, all issues are overtaken by storm of corruption and other vices

Careful the way you demonstrate, if you engage in violence then its not wise. Most of you students inciting stone throwing come from poor homes and they are even on govt bursaries. Now imagine you’re expelled today and that bursary is grabbed away from you. What would be left your life? Myself already passed through campus and similarly those bribing you to engage violence are already educated. Think about your future and demonstrate peacefully!

Please lets think about who really benefits from the so called subsidized items like fuel. Is it the household users or big companies like Mining Companies ? It does not make sense to tax a Company like Mopani Copper Mines lets say about $2000000.00 per month and then GRZ puts in about $1500000.00 to subside fuel used by Mopani per month, purely nonsense. Therefore, I totally support the removal of subside on fuel. But after three months, we expect our MPs to ask GRZ how much would have been saved and in which sector it was channelled or otherwise someone will end up like RB in court.

May 19, 2013 at 7:18 am
I urge all students on GRZ bursaries to be careful about the way they are demonstrating because someone in the corridor of power may become careless and stop or withdraw your bursaries, then you will be beaten twice. Those who are from the families which can afford to sponsor them will remain learning while you have lost your sponsors. Please lets think coolly about the removal of subsidies.

Ba Sata:You arrest someone because they have broken the law not because they annoy you. The arrested students should bring a class action against the govt for wrongful arrest. Opposition parties should support these students financially. This is what opposition is meant to do. Parties shouldn’t just spend money on elections but on ensuring the rule of law or protecting Democracy. Help these students.

By January 1979, French support for Bokassa had all but eroded after food riots in Bangui led to a massacre of civilians.[45] But the final straw came when between 17 April and 19 April, a large number of elementary school students in Bangui and elsewhere in the country were arrested after they had protested against paying for and wearing the expensive, government-required school uniforms with Bokassa’s image on them. Around 100 children were killed.[46] Bokassa allegedly participated in the massacre, beating some of the children to death with his cane; however, the initial reports received by Amnesty International indicated only that the 100 or more school students who died actually suffocated or were beaten to death while being forced into a small jail cell following their arrest.
The massive worldwide press coverage which followed the deaths of the students opened the way for a successful coup which saw French troops (in “Opération Barracuda”) invade the Central African Empire and restored former president David Dacko to power while Bokassa fled into exile by airplane to the Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) on 20 September 1979.
