Yali: We’ll sustain the Black Friday Campaign

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has affirmed the effectiveness of the black Friday%u2019s potential to remain a sustainable campaign in the country.

Last week twelve civil society organizations that included YALI, declared every Friday of a week Black Friday on which all people with particular concerns of how the Patriotic Front (PF) is governing the country will be wearing black attire to express their displeasure.

YALI Board Chairperson Andrew Ntewewe also notes it is sad that government has still maintained its position on lifting subsidies despite the continued agitations from various stakeholders in the country.

Mr. Ntewewe has further challenged President Michael Sata and his administration to tell the Zambian people on how he is going to trim down his blotted government.

Whichever colour you want to put on its your rights. We have discovered that actually some pipo do not hate the PF policies but Mr Sata himself. This means that whatever he does for the benefit of poor majolity those pipo will not appreciate. And we know them only time will tell.

It is “bloated” dude, not blotted. Further, trimming IS cutting down or reducing, no need to repeat yourself with down, ati “trim down”. ka sikulu kali wama.

Guys, it will be easy for Buju to identify you and beat the living daylights out of you.

Hey YALI, do you have audited financial statements? You’d better!

No funerals on Friday, if Buju sees you he’ll beat you senseless.

Seems that its the same 400 people waffling and shouting that they are a mob in Zed.

The Maize subsidy has been useless for a longtime and has only been benefiting millers and not the intended peasant farmers. If this subsidy was achieving its intended alleviation of poverty by rural peasant farmers, I would be livid with the PF government. FRA has been turned from intended purpose to buyer of last resort for Maize. How does that benefit the poor small scale farmer? It is therefore hypocrisy of the worst order for YALI and other civil society organisations to protest against a noble decision.
The petroleum fuels subsidy is another illusive subsidy. For starters it is archaic for small petrol (gasoline) vehicle users to be subsidizing big diesel (gasoil) vehicles and mines who consume diesel like water.Further the fuel subsidy has only been partially removed as fuel at the pump in Mongu can never sale at the same price as Ndola which is the city of INDENI with 100% subsidy remover. This unreasonableness by civil society and opposition political parties is becoming paralysing in terms of trust with the Zambian masses.
I will be wearing RED in protest of your protest every friday! What callousness and impunity!

YALI ngamulefwaya makalendefye ubunege, who cares? Removal of subsidies was long overdue, its time we too benefited from the subsidies through national development and not development of the stomach. Munasheko nentoshi bafikala! Tiye Sata, we are behind you!

Can someone mark my word? At this rate, YALI, NEVERS & HH will remain a forlon isolated bunch by next year June. Coz Sata is explaining the removal to villagers while you wear black on Cairo rd.

YALI leaders should learn a little bit of economics instead of talking like a bunch of ignorant political cadres! Politics of appeasement cannot develop the nation, Zimbabwe is bankrupt because of policies like this, aimed at appeasing people. A good leader makes tough decisions for the good of the future of the country.
