Janza Says “There Is Cover For Kalaba and Sunzu”

SATA-SUNZUNational team assistant coach Honour Janza says the Chipolopolo can shake off the pressure of playing at home against Lesotho and Sudan in World Cup qualifiers if they are mentally strong.

Janza said the team had enough cover for injured Stopilla Sunzu and Rainford Kalaba should the duo not be available for June 8 and 15 qualifiers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Sunzu has been given a four week break from football after undergoing knee surgery while it is yet to be ascertained how long Kalaba will be out after being on the sidelines since May 12 after sustaining a calf injury.

“We just have to have a very positive attitude we are happy that we have two games at home. We need a positive attitude to win this game. There will be no pressure if we are mentally strong,” Janza said.

“Home ground can be good but what is very important is the application from the players.”

He said that the technical bench would wait for the medics to give the final word on the injured players.

“Until we have the final report from the doctors that is when we will talk about the options but the team remains intact until the final time that the final 23 will be picked,” he said.

An assemblage of local players is currently in camp waiting to engage Namibia away on Saturday.

The team has had a revised travel schedule that will see them fly to Windhoek with the Under-20 having travelled by road this afternoon.

Zambia has two crucial World Cup qualifiers next month with Lesotho and Sudan travelling to Ndola.

The Chipolopolo top Group D on seven points with wounded Ghana a point behind.
Lesotho has two points while Sudan is tail-enders on zero points.

Paralysis of analysis remains the biggest problem of the beautiful game in Zambia today. Since winning the Afcon last year, Zambia has not been very impressive and no one has bothered to x- ray the situation and say the problem is or that. All you hear are broad statements. We may replace the individuals but lets also identify why we cant score despite, at times, playing well and find solutions.
