Too many bad drivers.
most of them are drunk drivers who like speeding.they get ‘high’ on tujilijili mixed in coca cola cans. they think they are racing drivers, kuti nefi bala kumo.
then there are the tired drivers who keep driving for hours and hours even when there are tired. as a result they fall asleep while they are ‘behind the wheel’ which results to an accident, extensive damage and loss of life.
Leave the devil out of this. Someone who left Zambia 30 years ago and returns finds the same infrastructure – most of it in disrepair and you want to blame the devil for stagnation? It is time Zambians went to work to bring the country into the 21st Century…
I totally agree. Let’s be practical and not always blame the devil. Our roads just need refurbishment and upgrading. Yes, even after that we will still have accidents but on a much lesser scale.
Well said, Ba rational. This is extreme mediocrity. This is the type of mindset that thinks tarring the same terrain equals development. It is small wonder we are now putting humps on highways and freeways.
The country need cleanising. Let us pray for our country. Now scared of travelling on these luxury coaches? Is that Mazhandu? Sorry and condolences to the bereaved.
Am travellin right now n our lives i can only put in the Lord’s hands,he is the keeper of our lives.condolences to the bereaved..may all the lost souls rest in peace
This accident happened last nyt at around 23;16 in serenje by juldan bus ba tumfweko not in mazabuka,we tried calling police hotlines but no answer, only one call was answered by police HQs in lusaka and all the police said was wait till morning we havnt been given fuel, but people were lying dead by roadsides,i remember calling MTN,AND AIRTEL,only a certain lady at ZAMTEL helped by contacting nearest helplines,
Short of words, this is just too much there is no way so many accidents can happen at once. Last year was a year of joy but this year has been all about sadness and funerals. My prayers to all the victims and to everyone else I advise you to pray each day it can be you or me tomorrow.
May all the souls of the lost rest in God’s perfect hands. To the bereaved; take heart and know that you are not alone, mother Zambia is morning with and praying for you. May he (God) who walks on the wings of the wind grant you strength and courage during this trying moment.
The accident hapened between Chikankata and Mazabuka. This was after a toyota hiace had a tyre burst on the left back wheel and it over turned. But NO person died. The blue bus parked you are seen in the picture belongs to MAZHANDU enroute to L/stone stoped to provided first aid kits to casulties. I was on that bus as a co-host and we were the first ones to reach at the scene. We were doing first aid those who were injured. Luckly the bus was also carry some passengers who were Medical personels who helped out. BUT NO ONE DIED ON SPOT.
Solution to road carnage experienced on our roads
1. Vehicles owners ensure MV is roadworthy before any drive
2. RTSA impound all vehicles that are nor roadworthy
3. RTSA mount road blocks to NOT ZAMBIA POLICE PLZZZZZZZ
4. Breathrize every driver using Zed roads
5. Passengers effect citizen arrest should a driver stop and drink whilst driving
6. Whilst in China last year I learnt that in Shijiazhuang you cannot drive while drank otherwise if caught you will never drive on Chinese roads again.
Additionally all drivers to attend scheduled road safety revision classes yearly (1 – 2 hours) failure to which a license could be suspended. Probably even at renewal of one’s driver’s license a computerized test on road safety could be administered and failure to pass in two attempts to entail non renewal of license and retaking of the whole testing process for re-issuance of license. Scheduling of testing after the regular date could be such that it puts the failed driver off the road for maybe a month. However it would call for more vigilance by RTSA through hiring of more traffic officers/wardens. Oh! It would also add to creation of employment!
@unknown you are just a big useless fool. Sata has nothing to do with these accidents. OUR roads were designed for slow moving vehicles like Tata,Ashok,Neoplan,Margus etc in Welensky time the current vehicles we have are not meant for the roads we have. Hence PF want to construct Formula1 roads to reduce on accidents
First of all, mwapuskeni bonse who escaped from that accident. If I am not mistaken, the Chikankata turn off is AT A CURVE, ON A HILL, IN BETWEEN CRATERS OR POTHOLES, ON AN FASHIONED ROAD WHITH NO BUSH CLEARING AND THERE IS LAY BYE OR BUS STOP ON THE SAME CURVE. Now, how more dangerous can be a place be, ladies and gentlemen?
The other thing to note is taxes on tyres are very high, forcing bus owners and others to buy used or defective tyres. There is no industry making tyres, so why make it expensive to import tryres?
The problem is poor infrastructure. there are a number of dangerous potholes on this stretch and its possible this small bus could have hammered into a pothole. the roads in Zambia are just pathetic and any government that will work on the roads, without being arrogant, directionless, ****** and foolish like this PF, will have popular support. Any, quicky recovery to the injured.
