I totally agree. Let’s be practical and not always blame the devil. Our roads just need refurbishment and upgrading. Yes, even after that we will still have accidents but on a much lesser scale.

The problem is poor infrastructure. there are a number of dangerous potholes on this stretch and its possible this small bus could have hammered into a pothole. the roads in Zambia are just pathetic and any government that will work on the roads, without being arrogant, directionless, ****** and foolish like this PF, will have popular support. Any, quicky recovery to the injured.

First of all, mwapuskeni bonse who escaped from that accident. If I am not mistaken, the Chikankata turn off is AT A CURVE, ON A HILL, IN BETWEEN CRATERS OR POTHOLES, ON AN FASHIONED ROAD WHITH NO BUSH CLEARING AND THERE IS LAY BYE OR BUS STOP ON THE SAME CURVE. Now, how more dangerous can be a place be, ladies and gentlemen?
The other thing to note is taxes on tyres are very high, forcing bus owners and others to buy used or defective tyres. There is no industry making tyres, so why make it expensive to import tryres?

Additionally all drivers to attend scheduled road safety revision classes yearly (1 – 2 hours) failure to which a license could be suspended. Probably even at renewal of one’s driver’s license a computerized test on road safety could be administered and failure to pass in two attempts to entail non renewal of license and retaking of the whole testing process for re-issuance of license. Scheduling of testing after the regular date could be such that it puts the failed driver off the road for maybe a month. However it would call for more vigilance by RTSA through hiring of more traffic officers/wardens. Oh! It would also add to creation of employment!

Leave the devil out of this. Someone who left Zambia 30 years ago and returns finds the same infrastructure – most of it in disrepair and you want to blame the devil for stagnation? It is time Zambians went to work to bring the country into the 21st Century…
