The 2013 African Presidential Roundtable, whose theme is The Cost of Democracy, is centered on what needs to be achieved for people in Africa to gain greater involvement in the electoral process in their respective countries.
Mr. Banda’s presentation is expected to touch on what Western countries can do to provide assistance in facilitating the electoral process in Africa and what the current generation of leaders needs to do to further stability and democracy on the continent and in their own countries.
Mr. Banda has to this effect written to inform President Michael Sata and the Cabinet Office, through the Secretary to the Cabinet about his invitation to South Africa which is expected to run from the 5th to 8th of June this year.
And Boston University African Presidential Centre Director Charles Stith notes that the invitation of Zambia’s former president to the 10th African Presidential Roundtable slated for Constitution Hill in the Winnie Mandela Courtyard is crucial to the event as Mr. Banda has experience in election monitoring.
Last year, President Banda spent nearly three months at Boston University in the United States of America as President-in-Residence, lecturing at the institution and other associate universities both within and outside that country.
This contained in a statement released to Qfm the Former President’s office’s Deputy administrative assistant Kennedy Limwanya.

Are Boston University an entity on this planet? Are they not aware of RB’s status of being ‘flight risk’?

I do not think he has been invited because he is a good leader but because he is a former president. Not because he is a democrat but because he is a puppet who will always say yes to any useless thing as long as it has proceeded from the mouth of a Western leader. RB is a shameless former president that Zambia has ever produced. They should have invited the old man KK or Magande or the young men Chipimo or Milupi who are credible than that old lier.

The probem with Rupiah is that he is too soft on anything even on things he doesn’t agree with. We need a leader who could tell these western guys that such and such a thing is not good for Africa or for Zambia. Ala! him is to smile on every thing. Thats why Sata somestimes is good because he speaks his mind.

“Bold” or “speaks his mind” without prudence is not admirable in a head of state.
There is a lack of understanding of the presidential position and how delicate it is. It’s evident how the current party came to power and will stay in power. The criteria used by many-a-Zambian is laughable.
“Chi Sata cikali”
“Ba Mudala Bali kwata insele!”
Even the very monicker “king cobra” shows how Zambians perceive the suitability of a candidate to the presidential office.

Sometime peoples illiteracy and prejudice shines like a beacon. “Presumed innocent” means that the burden of proof is on the accusers.
When Zamtrop hit the fan people were ready to crucify FTJ. What was the eventual outcome?
Just because the “gospel” according to The Post News papers accuses someone of things does not make them fact.
It is savage and childishly immature to call Rupiah a “flight risk”.
Is he going to a country with no extradition treaty, no!
Has he fled the country before, no!
Was or has he ever been a fugitive from the law, no!
Is it within his rights to travel, yes!
The bulk of negative comments are not backed by evidence or law, just sentiment and opinion.
Check the grammar and vocabulary of the nay sayers, it speaks volumes about them.
There is nothing so frightening as ignorance in action.

Chiluba was not cleared of Zamtrop misdeeds. Do not mislead others. He was acquitted (on a technicality) by RB, who thought:
1. that Chiluba would be alive today and
2. that Chiluba and the people of Zambia would say “leave RB alone blah, blah”.
Kono, bashemi, Mulimu (Lesa) ki guy. Ali isa pasanganya amapange yaba RB, as we speak RB is in court. Therefore the gospel according to the Post (in this case) was true.
