Facebook And The Bible

By Andrew Njovu

It has been noticed with great sense of sadness that nowadays, many people especially the youth, spend over 60% of their time on the internet. It can be much better if this time is dedicated to reading the word of God, which is the source of eternal life, wisdom and knowledge.

Some youths are so addicted to facebook and twitter such that even when eating, they would rather have a phone or other internet equipment on the other hand. How i wish we the youth of today can make a difference and substitute excessive use of internet with extensive study of the word of God!

If our hearts and minds become occupied with the word of God, then even on the net we will be putting up some comments that will surely win many souls for our LORD Christ Jesus. Lets divide our time and use it to glorify the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Let us unite my fellow believers and be the instruments of God, even on the net.

May the LORD bless all the believes in Jesus name.

Its true but people will still say they have the freedom of choice. The same freedom of choice made Adam and eve sin. equally many people in Sodom and Gomora perished…who are we?

God has given each one of us a free will!
He does not force anyone to follow him!
He stands and knocks on each one’s door to the soul.
He does not try to break in as Mr Njovu is trying to!
Let the youth enjoy their days of youth!

Mr Njobvu’s advice is timely and wholesome. Dear People of God ignore it to your children’s own peril and destruction. If the bible could be prayerfully read and meditated upon even once a day and few minutes our society would have been much better than it presently is. We need more people of the Njovu type who are able to smell danger from afar and advise. But alas such are few. We only have advisors who will make us go into hell with our eyes fully open.

Enjoying worldly desire instead of enjoying God’s wisdom. What an advice to the youth!! How can I encourage my child to be more on Facebook than been spiritual. Remember, Facebook came after into the world when the Bible was already in existence.

    @ Andrew, WELL SAID!
IT’S MORE THAN 60 percent OF OUR TIME.
THE BIBLE IS TOUCHED UNDUSTED ONLY A FEW MINUTES BEFORE LEAVING FOR CHURCH AND ONCE BACK HOME, IT’S PUT AND STAYED UNTOUCHED TILL NEXT CHURCH DAY.AS FOR THE INTERNET, IT’S EVERYAFTER 30 MINUTES. A FREE WILL FOR SURE.

MAY GOD BEGIN TO TRANSFORM THE MINDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE SO THAT THEY ABIDE IN HIM AS HE ALSO ABIDES IN THEM. THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD WE KNOW WHETHER IT BE IN THE SKY, WATERS AND OCEANS OR BENEATH THE EARTH. HE IS A GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL GOD. WE WORSHIP YOU LORD AND MAY YOUNG PEOPLE BEGIN TO GLORIFY YOU IN JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME. AMEN!

    Mr Njovu

You have a very valid point, it will be of interest to know how many of us “Youths” understand who Gods is…..coz that 60% of time spent on FB or other media categories others do not know God. How do we handle that!

It is true every1 has de freedom of choice, bt wat de author of this blog (Mr Njobvu) has said is even more true. His wish just as mine is dat de youths devote de larger chunk of their time in reading de word of God than spending evry bit of their time surfing de internet. Its un4tunate dat such pipo as Denmark & his like-minded colleagues can gloss over such free & costless counsel. Anyway God is great, u wil realise this one day.

I totally agree with you brother Andrew. We are living in a dangerous world now, where children disobey their parents in the name of human rights. Brothers and Sisters! its time we open our eyes and see whether we are in a right lane, boys and girls obey your parents that it may be well with you. Ladies and Gentlemen, lets remember our CREATOR while we still have breath, for time will come when this breath we have will be taken from us. Face booking is good when used in a right way, but spending so much time on face book is dangerous in that, it consumes most of your precious GOD given time on PLANET EARTH.
    PSALM 1:1-6

Remember that each and every individual was PLACED ON THIS PLANET for a purpose, so brothers and sisters its time now to turn away from ALL WORLDLY PLEASURES AND SEEK THE FACE OF GOD, and it shall be well with us AMEN….. Psalm 150:6

Iwe Njovu, where did you get that 60% statistic? Your article is a good reminder but in writing for the public you must back up you figures, or else you will be taken for a dreamer.

Being on Facebook does not mean one is evil. We need to utilize this wonderful social network but with moderation. The bible is not the only important spiritual book. There are several other ones. We need the bible for our spiritual guidance.

You are right, many youths would rather be browsing on the internet than reading. In fact nowadays reading culture is not there, worse even reading the bible. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If only youths could spend some of their precious time reading the word of God, they will discover the truth. It is good to browse on internet but to be addicted is a problem.
