‘Eye Blows’ Emerge as Dandy Crazy Complains Of Poor PF Governance System, Promises Remix Of ‘Dont Kubeba’

INFORMATION Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga says piracy has driven singer Dandy Krazy of the famed Don’t Kubeba song into desperation.
Last Friday during a show at Lusaka’s Club Zone cafe’, Dandy Krazy said he regretted composing Don’t Kubeba song which the PF used during the 2011 campaigns because he has not received any financial reward from the PF or government.
Dandy Krazy, whose real names are Wesley Chibambo, said there was an outcry among Zambians over PF’s failure to address challenges that he raised in his song.
But Malupenga, during a sensitisation meeting for the DVD and CD dealers on the newly-acquired Hologram held in Lusaka yesterday, said Dandy Krazy has not financially benefitted from his popular works because of the high incidence of piracy in Zambia.
“Dandy Krazy was basically crying that he has not gotten anything from the famous Don’t Kubeba song. He was crying that if he was convicted and sent to jail (for trafficking in Canabis) his family was going to become destitute. We all remember that Don’t Kubeba song was a hit in 2011. Wherever you went the song was playing,” Malupenga said. “That means that we had so many CDs on the market all over the country. In fact, the song was being played beyond our borders. So the question is, how did Dandy Krazy fail to get anything from such a popular song? It is because of piracy. It was a very  popular song but he has gotten nothing out of it and he is crying. You can see that it (piracy) is even introducing some desperate measures in the singer.”
Malupenga said had it not been for piracy, Chibambo would not have been complaining.
“In that story, I could read a lot of desperation from Dandy Krazy to the point that now he can even be a musician for hire. Because he is saying ‘yes I was honoured by the President, but that is just a paper. There was no money’. In other words he is saying ‘can I eat the paper as an award from the President?’,” Malupenga said. “When he was composing that song, I don’t think he was composing it with the view in mind that the President will give him money. Or that the government will give him money. That is his talent, his career and he is trying to earn a living by producing songs. But because of piracy he can’t get anything from his works. This is very sad.”
Malupenga said the introduction of the Hologram was aimed at protecting musicians’ works from piracy so they can benefit from their intellect and sweat.
“Now, you can see that the effects of piracy are at the core of our integrity. You can have a good person compromising himself because of hunger. But do we need to have such a situation where we have got famous artistes producing famous works, but they are getting nothing out of that?” he said. “We have to look at this issue from such angles. These are the evils of piracy. This is what piracy does; it benefits other people and not the creators of works.”
Malupenga said he would soon seek audience with Chibambo to find a lasting solution to the problems musicians were facing.
“I don’t think there was any contract that he can sing the song and he will be paid. But these are the desperate measures he may be contemplating. All this is as a result of piracy. Instead of earning from his own works, he has to look at other people to pay. If you read through that story carefully, it will not be surprising if other opportunists can see an opportunity in Dandy’s cries and say we have got K50 million for you can you compose such a song,” said Malupenga.
Chibambo has said he would do a remix to the song that would depict the real challenges faced by Zambians.
“I will do a Don’t Kubeba remix for the people of Zambia because there is a lot of despondency among Zambians. Zambians are not happy with what is happening right now. I will make the people decide after five years whether it is good government or a bad one,” he said. “This remix will talk about things that is happening in the country because everybody is observing the PF are doing. They removed the subsidies on fuel and maize. Are the people given good salaries, Zambians are observing all these things. They are the ones who vote for and against the government.”
Chibambo vowed that he would not perform Don’t Kubeba at any public function.
“As an ambassador of youths, I am saying youths have already started complaining about what is happening in the country. They are not happy at all. I have seen it on the ground, I walk in the streets; I eat with them; I talk to them every day; I dance with them. They are not being given jobs they were promised,” he said.
Chibambo claimed that the PF have failed to address problems Zambians were facing.

Dandy, national issues cannot be addressed overnight like a house family. And to tell you the truth Dandy noone will ever address problems of employment over night. But according to the way things are moving, all those issues you’re talking about are addressed by this govt. No any leader not one will solve all the problems pipo are facing in one and half years noone not even the so called govt in waiting can do that. Am sure you’re just frustrated because you was arrested on the account of being in possession of malijuana and you was expecting that pipo from govt would have come to your aid.

You’ll keep on changing cause no one will address your issues of concern in one and half years. Its your rights to vote for whoever you think is good for you but the truth is he will bound to fail because your mind is fast than the pace of development itself.

The guy is facing drug related cases before the courts of law.Not everyone can benefit from the party they sponsor. Up to now a lot of freedom fighters are complaining the Unip did nothing to appreciate their part to the winning of independence. Even MMD has not satisfied some of us for the sacrifices and risks we took to bring MMD to office.
