When Will UPND Leaders Grow Up?

Dear Editor,

WHEN I compare the words of the Vice-President, Dr Guy Scott, and those of United Party for National Development (UPND) deputy secretary general for political affairs Kuchunga Simusamba on the funeral of the nine UPND cadres who perished in a road accident last Sunday in Luangwa, it is not difficult to see why the opposition party is in dire need of direction.
In his statement, our esteemed leader, Dr Scott expressed grief at the breavement, while the Patriotic Front cancelled all its campaign activities because of the funeral.
By offering to resume campaign activities and events after the funeral, the PF exhibited leadership and wisdom.

In contrast, UPND leaders acted irrationally claiming that the death of its members in Luangwa had reinvigorated its spirit to win the Feira parliamentary seat.
They have also insulted the government for taking over funeral expenses, while making empty promises of winning the seat. They claimed, “it was unAfrican and unZambian” for the
government to “impose itself on the funeral”. Besides, they ignored to acknowledge what the government did at public funerals after the recent Chibombo and Chisamba road accidents.
Just imagine the parody and taunting the PF leaders would have been subjected to, if they did not do what they did in Luangwa from the same UPND people who are still complaining.
The party lacks leadership.

MUBANGA LUCHEMBE,
Lusaka.

The truth is as long as the party called UPND has Hakainde at the helm as their leader, they will not acheive what they want as a political party. This man has shown high level of incompetence and novicity. The man has to be found always on the negative side may be for his political gain of some sort. I miss Mr Sata as an opposition not the oppositions of today. Shame on them!

What is important is that the government helped and if it works to their advantage, well and good . After all goes an adage” give and you will be given”. So what’s wrong if they are campaigning. Zambia lets grow in our heads. Haven’t you seen people selling at burial site. Who knows it can be an opportunity for them.

    @ kakolwe, HEY MY
    ONCORHYNCHUS KETA,
THAT’S EXACTLY HOW I FEEL POSTING IN CAPITAL LETTERS.
ZAMBIAN PEOPLE ARE GROWN UP AND ARE ABLE TO KNOW WHETHER THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT IS TAKING THEM TO SHOPPING MALL OR TO A 2 METER-SQUARE STAND FULL OF ORDINARY DRIED MULEMBWE NA CHIBWABWA BECAUSE THEY PUT THEM IN POWER AND THEY ALSO KNOW HOW TO EJECT THEM.
THE CURRENT POLITICAL OPPOSITION PARTIES ARE NOT REALLY DOING MUCH IN CHECKS AND BALANCES.
    IT’S (I.P.S.G.) INDIVIDUAL PUNCH SCORE-GAME WE ARE SEEING (INSULTS,HATRED,NAME CALLING…)

Tribal ***** Luchembe. I see your articles in the Post & maybe that makes you think you are a good writer. You are not. You are just a useful idi.ot & PF bootlicker. There are a lot of people with conta-views who write better but the post does not publish because they only publish stories that support PF.

UPND IS A CLUB OF PEOPLE WHO IMITATE POLITICIANS IN SOME WAY BUT A FAR FROM POLITICAL REALITY.
THEY ONLY FOLLOW PLUMES OF SMOKE AND CAN’T 2 STEPS AHEAD OF THEMSELVES.
    Up & Down for sure.

What did the PF do at the funeral. Mukamba chabe they did not do anything cos all the food and funeral expenses were met by UPND. Why do you cheat people that they did something for the deceased in Luangwa, were you there ? Senior Chief Mburuma, and Chief Mphuka were there, Only Chief Mphuka requested UPND to compensate the families of those that died. What did your PF do, they only sent somebody to come and explain that it was necessary to carry out post mortems because the families need to claim compensation from the owner of the vehicle. WHAT ELSE TELL ME ?

Too many lives have been lost through road accidents and I have not come across where government has given advice for victims to claim, there could be some hidden intent if one cared to find out who the owner of the vehicl………… I leave the rest for you to think about.

The action and position taken by both the PF and UPND parties over the calamity in Luangwa, remind me of the time when Sata fell ill and was evacuated to South Africa. During that time, I remember vividly Guy Scott’s statement that PF was going to refund MMD government whatever expenses incurred on Sata…

One thing we can learn from this is that: parties in opposition fail to understand the roles and responsibilities of the state over its citizens, irrespective of political affiliation… it is not uncommon even for the party in power to tell people that development could only be seen if they voted for the ruling party… do you really need to go through Civic Education to understand this… Africa ichalo cha mfimfi (dark continent)…
