Sudan coach Mazda Abdullah says beating Zambia will settle scores after FIFA docked them three points in their first leg meeting.
Sudan lost three points to Zambia last year after fielding defender Saif Ali who was ineligible due to suspension for their June 2, 2012 meeting in Khartoum that Mazda’s side won 2-0.
FIFA later docked three points off Sudan and awarded Zambia the win.
Sudan head into the game bottom of Group D with one point from four games nine adrift of leaders Zambia.
Mazda told MTNFootball.com upon arrival in Ndola on Wednesday night that beating Zambia would go some way in making up for the 2014 World Cup Group D qualifying disappointments.
“For me we won on the field and lost the three points outside the pitch,” Mazda said.
“ So we want now to prove that we are able to win against Zambia again so we will do our best to play my concern is good performance and the result.”
Chipolopolo defender Davies Nkausu said Zambia are bracing for a backlash this weekend.
“It will obviously be. If it was us whose three points were taken away it would have also been a grudge match,” Nkausu said.
“And for them it was the worst thing to happen because they beat us 2-0 which was a fair win for them.
“But because of the guy they used, it cost them.”
Meanwhile the two teams come into Saturday’s game in contrasting form from last weekend’s Group D showdown.
Sudan were humbled 3-1 by the Black Stars on June 7 in Omdurman while Zambia crushed Lesotho 4-0 24 hours later in Ndola.
Zambia coach Herve Renard will be hoping his attacking trio of Collins Mbesuma, Jacob Mulenga and Christopher Katongo who were each on target in that resounding win over Lesotho will be fired-up to inspire the team to another three points.
A second successive home win for Zambia would keep them at the top of Group D ahead of the final showdown against Ghana in Kumasi this September.

It’s a pious wish for Sudan to think that they could beat Zambia this weekend!

Sudan needs serious humbling so that they learn that Zambia is former Africa Champion 2012.

We made a very big mistake to have allowed them…I say allowed because those chaps shouldn’t have beaten us now as long as they live they be bragging that they beat the African champions 2-0. Anyway, we need to beat them with a bigger margin than 2 goals.
