Lusaka Woman Seeks End of Marriage

By CAROLINE KALOMBE
A woman of Lusaka has sued her husband for divorce, saying the couple has lived apart for two years and that the marriage has broken down irretrievably.
This is according to a divorce petition filed in the Lusaka High Court by Bubile Lungu Mupeso. The couple has three children together.
She said she was lawfully married to Edward Chitembwe Mupeso on July 19, 1997 at Saint Andrews Church in Lusaka.
Mrs Mupeso said the couple lived together as husband and wife at number 6 ZESCO flats in Kabulonga.
She said she now resides in Woodlands while her husband is at Katete court at NIPA in Lusaka.
She said the marriage has broken down irretrievably, meaning that the union is permanently damaged.
Mrs Mupeso said the couple has lived apart since November 2010, a period exceeding two years.
She is asking the court to dissolve the marriage and for the two parties to have joint custody of the children.
Mrs Mupeso has also asked the court for a declaration that financial responsibility for the children be borne by both parents.

Not a very good development. I know this couple. The cause of this break up has been infidelity on both sides. What makes it worse is that they both were seeing other married people. The man started first and the women followed as revenge. I would meet the woman with a married man whom I know in South Africa. Away games. Sad story for the children.

Sad for the children indeed. i know this couple, they are both very learned. why not be role model? Good education has not helped this marriage. Anyway, no wonder some people say “kwa marriages are better”.

This is a very civilised way of divorcing, not explaining sordid details in high court.
The empowered woman even ask court to share financial responsibility for children equally.
Not local court issues of he beats me, has affairs with other women/men and does not support or feed me with the children!

The few times when divorce seems clean is ONLY when the woman is empowered & independent. Not bazimayi ma Goal-keepers. NO! So let US educate the women to he maximum. Though God hates divorce
