Health experts say the aromatic adehydes discovered in Zambeef beef is used to embalm dead bodies and can cause organ cancers like cancer of the blood in human. And the Competition and Consumer Protection commission says it is aware about Zambeef’s imported products been under scrutiny.

According to an analysis to the Minstry of health’s food and control laboratory conducted in Lusaka last week, aromatic Aldehyde was detected in all the samples

The health experts told journalists yesterday that Aromatica Adehydes which they compare to Benzene or jet fuel are powerful preservatives chemicals that are dangerous for human beings as they cause diseases such as leukamia. fThese are mainly ised for embalming dead bodies, for example if someone dies here in Zambia and they come from UK, in order for the body to reach the Uk fresh, we inject the Aromatica Aldehyde in the veins” Said the health experts.

Why is the local authority not closing down places where such beef has been found. Either someone is politicking or the whole story is a lie.

Which aldehydes and at what concentration were they found in the meat samples tested? How many of the samples tested were positive? First of all, I was shocked to learn that Zambeef imports meat from Europe and USA. These are areas we know have had issues with meat products in the recent past.
Zambeef should be compelled to label imported products! Consumers have a right to know were there meat is coming from.

I have noticed this for a long time now and I always smell my beef before buying. Sometimes, my wife has bought this and the moment its near my mouth, I smell the shit, we through the whole pot. I even tell most Bucheries with such meat on their practise that one day, someone will wake up from slumber.

….and its not just Zambeef. A lot of Bucheries get this rubbish locally and put on beef.

If you go to the market, you see that there are no flies on fresh fish or anywhere near, just know that the product is tented with aromatic Aldehydes

see this story someone e-mail me from Solwezi
    Sent: 05 June 2013 16:17

I bought fresh fish ( breams) in Solwezi, it was from a freezer but not frozen but very fresh and appealing to the eye, i fried some upon reaching home i couldn’t eat it, it was so bitter, the following day i boiled the remainder thinking could be the cooking oil i used to fry it was contaminated, it was still very bitter. The fish outlet in Solwezi is well known for selling cheap fish and the truck loads of fish rarely lasts for a day. I kept on wandering why the fish so fresh could taste so bitter.

Formalin (formaldehyde) is very repugnant, at least in the concentration they use it to preserve cardavers, and it will usually irritate your eyes and nostrils; you might experience shedding of tears and sneezing when you are exposed to it

    Sent: Wednesday, 5 June 2013 2:56 PM

This is happening in Lusaka and some people were arrested especially at City Market.

    Sent: Wednesday, 5 June 2013 2:08 PM

    Subject: WARNING!

I am not sure if this is happening but please report if you do across something as dangerous as this…..
*The Ministry of Health has unearthed a scam in which some unscrupulous people are using chemicals used to embalm bodies to preserve meat products on the Zambian market.
Some meat dealers are adding a chemical substance known as Glutaraldehyde formaldehyde to allegedly preserve the meat.
Health Deputy Minister Dr. PATRICK CHIKUSU says the pharmaceutical act of 2004 has been repealed and the current Zambia medicines and allied substances act of 2012 will mean stiffer monitoring mechanisms of offenders.
