Zambian Commando, In Court For Stealing Vehicle, KR400 At Gunpoint
A 27-YEAR-OLD soldier from the Mushili commando unit in Ndola yesterday appeared in the Ndola Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a vehicle and KR 400 cash at gunpoint.
This is in a case in which Munyoi Mundia is charged with aggravated robbery. The offence is contrary to Section 294 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Mundia appeared for reading of the charge by Ndola magistrate Ben Akende as he awaits committal to the High Court for trial.
Particulars of the offence are that Mundia on May 30, 2013 in Ndola, jointly and whilst acting with other persons unknown, robbed Steven Nkuwa of a Toyota Fun Cargo registration number ACT 8972 and KR400 cash, altogether worth KR27,400.
Mundia is alleged to have used actual violence to steal the property and was arrested on June 16, 2013.
Mr Akende adjourned the case to July 3, 2013 for mention to allow the State to obtain instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to commit Mundia to the High Court.

Please disarm soldiers and kapokolas, they are abusing these fire arms that are meant for more serious thing. Munyoi is the type who can even lend a firearm and uniform to a bandit.

Policemen/women are the worst Bandits in this country. I mean better salaries or not they will still continue. Let them work for bonuses in lieu of effective arrests per specified period: meaning let them make arrests which will have successful indictment in the courts of law to merit that bonus. This way we will have law and order in the country and the officer will be motivated to do their duty. Right now everything is a joke!
