Construction of Livingstone Stadium To Start Soon
Vice President Guy Scott says construction of the country’s fourth modern stadium in Livingstone will start soon.
And Government has set aside KR3 million for clearing of the site.
The Vice President said this early this week.
With Zambia set to bid for the hosting rights of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, the news will be a welcome move.
Works are set to be underway in Mongu for a 30,000 seater Stadium while the 40,000 seater Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium which was opened last year is now the Chipolopolo Boys’ home ground. The Stadium will also host this year’s Cosafa Cup final on 23rd July.
Zambia is yet suffer a defeat at Levy Mwanawasa in four competitive matches.
The biggest of them all will be the Lusaka Stadium which will have a seating capacity of 60,000. Two-thirds of the works have been done.

This govt means business. If they can continue like this PF as a party, they will have less job on campaigning come 2016 because their work would work for them. Viva PF, Viva PF,VIva President Sata.

The PF in opposition made MMD to implement these projects. I recall one day, HE MCS lamenting that how can not even host a regional tournament because of lack of stadia and HE late Levy Mwanawasa in enerst picked it. And alas HE MCS named it after him. Rememeber, before the his demise, Levy reconciled with his once “bitter” rival. I almost collapsed with happiness on that occassion.

Iwe chi Isaac ulichipuba sana!! Why praise PF? Those 3 stadia (Lusaka, Livingstone & Ndola) were initiated by Levy Mwanawasa. I remember the signing ceremony of the agreement with the Chinese Government. Why do you think the Ndola one is named Levy Mwanawasa Staduim?

Chipuba niwe Chi Rebased Lungu!…Sata pushed for these indirectly when he lamented on the failure to host a simple tourney like COSAFA!…Levy M MHSRIP) being a leader who listened accommodated Sata’s idea. That’s the use of opposition, not going to stand in the sun holding a placard with some grafitti at black Friday…looking so follish like an embalmed cow!

Kabwe needed one too! It is central and easily accessible. Infrastructure in terms of accommodation can be improved and new structures put up.

Livingstone needs a more clinics, schools and improvements to the existing institutions (schools, clinics and hospitals). Building an ultra modern stadium that will be used once in a while is not the best use of meager resources. Let us learn from the mistakes of Greece and the plight of the stadiums they built for the 100th Olympic Games.

You guys, it is not building stadia which will prove improvement in the livelihood of the ordinary people. We are struggling to find money for the maintenance of the two stadia, and now we want to build the third stadium. The two stadia are enough. This money can be well spent by improving the health, education and social care of the ordinary people. some hospitals, school and roads are still dilapidated.
Blind support from people like Isaac is worrying he can not the difference between wasting and investing money.
These Stadia should be built with whole life costing in mind. you cannot just wake up one morning and say you will build/construct another stadium. The stadium should be self-sustaining. i do not see this in having three stadia.

The ignorance of our government and most people pa zed is that they think stadia are the only things needed to host a tourney. It takes mo than that and stadia constitute only a fraction. Further da maintenance of da stadia is exorbitant. Mongu has no club playing in super division, what will happen to da stadium if not becoming a white elephant? Even our national team wl rarely use it coz of distance.
