Government To Spend K11 Billion On Chiefs Palaces

MINISTER of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Nkandu Luo says Government will spend over KR11.2 million on the construction and rehabilitation of 15 chiefs’ palaces this year.
Professor Luo said this in Parliament on Tuesday evening in response to Monze Central member of Parliament (MP) Cornelius Mweetwa (UPND), who wanted to know how much money would be spent on constructing and rehabilitating chiefs’ palaces across the country.
This was during the questions for oral answer session.
Prof Luo said the construction and rehabilitation works on selected palaces will commence as soon as funds are mobilised.
“Government will construct 14 to 15 chiefs’ palaces this year, depending on how the money comes,” she said.
The minister urged the private sector to partner with Government to ensure that chiefs are provided with decent accommodation.

Its not pleasing chiefs to win the votes, thats how PF manifeso says. Any cheifs are the castodian of many pipo i mean many pipo fall under him hence the need for them to have better housing and other social amenities.

Who built the chiefs hats or houses in the old days, just curious.I remember watching Shaka Zulu, the hats were craftily built. If only chiefs represented the lost heritage instead of luxury and bling bling. The Tswana live in traditional hats reminiscent of a bygone era, they live in real villages, of course they also park expensive vehicles like latest BMWs but they still live like chiefs. You got to keep some past and not lose all past.

This is not for elections. The PF have been engaging all chiefs, becoz they want them to be at the centre of Farmer Input Support Program. They wil be able to determine who needs support who doesnt. They wil act as direct alert for DMMU. Meaning, they are betterplaced to identify valnurable families in their chiefdoms. They wil have a part in decentralisation. Our chiefs wil be involved in a lot of work so they wil need facilities like good homes. They wil add value to their communities and they wil be respected by their pipo again. Good job PF. Nkandu Luo has a very important ministry.
