Information and Broadcasting Services permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga says the Patriotic Front (PF) will not allow the national broadcaster ZNBC to fall into liquidation amidst revelations that it has an unstable financial status.
Mr. Malupenga says the PF government will in the next two years capacitate ZNBC in a bid address its current financial status.
Appearing before the Parliament’s Public Account Committee (PAC), Mr. Malupenga also described the revelations of financial irregularities at ZNBC as availed by the Auditor General’s report under the period of review of 2009 to 2011 as a wake up call for the PF government to learn from to prevent such irregularities to reoccur.
Mr. Malupenga assured the Committee chaired by Chembe Member of Parliament Mwansa Mbulakulima that the PF government will ensure that such financial irregularities do not re-occur at the national broadcaster.
And responding to PAC member Ikelengi Member of Parliament Elijah Muchima’s question on what has delayed the constituting of new board of directors at ZNBC since the last board was dissolved in 2010, Mr. Malupenga explained that the delay has been because of the earlier procedure of appointing the board of directors that did not comply with the law thereby making it necessary to restart the whole process of appointing the board.
Mr. Malupenga has disclosed that currently his Ministry is in the process of selecting the new board members before the appointment committee begins its work.
And Mr. Malupenga has maintained that since the PF government came into power, there has been no political interference in the way ZNBC operates.
Mr. Malupenga was responding to an observation by Lubansenshi independent MP Patrick Mucheleka who noted that ZNBC’s news content has not changed under the PF government as it seems to be mainly leaning the party in power.

But why is that since PF came into power, only one journalist covers the vice president? Ist ZNBC or indeed the journast’s decision?

Motorist pay the fuel levy and road tax. That is clear money. Clear amounts and not hidden and inconspicuous amounts. So with the TV levy.
Why, the f*ck can’t the pricks at ZNBC and RDA give a simple income and expenditure statement? What is so f*cking hard about that?
With all the bloody new technology that has moved transmission and production equipment sizes and costs down why, f*ck maintain a f*cking army of bloody illiterate idiots in employment?
Chibamba F*cking Kanyama, you claim to be a slick snake oil salesman, you know what “downsize” and “streamline” and “rationalise” mean. Is your nose so far up your PS’s ass that your mind is stifled?
Unprincipled piece of Tonga shit!

Ah, I see; now they are setting the stage for increasing TV levy – preparing us, kind of. Meaning the removal of subsidies is not enough to sustain this bloated budget. Still more zachepa ndalama. Tinazigong’a with the Noah’s ark.
