Kapoko, 10 Others Found With Case to Answer

By CAROLINE KALOMBE
FORMER Ministry of Health human resource officer Henry Kapoko and 10 others have been found with a case to answer by the Lusaka Magistrate Court.
This is in a matter in which Kapoko and the 10 are charged with theft by public servant and money laundering amounting to over K6 million.
Principal resident magistrate Sharon Newa said in her ruling yesterday that the prosecution had proved its case and that the accused persons should answer to the allegations levelled against them.
“There should be evidence of an essential element present to prove that money was moved without authority,” she said.
Mrs Newa said the prosecution had proved a prima facie case and therefore placed the accused persons on their defence.
She said she had considered the submissions and evidence brought to court and that the prosecution had proved that there was an essential element that a crime was committed.
“My findings are that the accused persons are required to answer to the allegations. A prima facie case has been established and I find them with a case to answer and consequently place them on their defence,” Mrs Newa said.
And the defence lawyers said their clients would give evidence on oath and could call witnesses to help in their defence.
The defendants in the offence involving monies paid to Royal College of Business and Management Studies for training workshops are Nobert Peleti, Zukas Kaoma, Valenta Miyoba, Chizyuka Nkhata, Abigail Nzala, Nkhata Kapinda and Enala Matutu Phiri.
The rest are Vincent Luhana, Evaristo Musaba, Chrispin Sichone and Christopher Bwalya.

What is sad is that these people we live with them in our comunities and we know how dubiously they became rich and became boastful but we did not complain when the aquital was passed by persons who obviously had vested interes. May the law take its course……umulandu taubola

There was a rumour that the cases were dropped because someone was related to someone. Am glad it was false.
