Martin Mwango.
Since the foundation of the modern stadium in Lusaka many Zambians have made many comments and suggestions of what it should be called and most of the names suggested were relating to our national team that died in air crash in 1993 in Gabon.
The right time has come to give the modern stadium a name and our cabinet like wise they were thinking in the same line with most of us, however, the formula of the name as just come out with mixed feelings from many fans “Gabon Disaster Heroes Stadium” How do you call a place of fun (Gabon disaster…) Why not calling it “Heroes Stadium” like suggested by the FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya. We all know that by calling it “Heroes Stadium” will still honor our fallen heroes whilst maintaining the relation that Zambia and Gabon share.
The Government should give hear to the owners of the stadium before writing that name on the seats or at stadium, otherwise, the name itself will cost us a lot by the behavior of fans. Besides, we have to think beyond the structures we are building now. Please listen to us, our Stadium should be called “Heroes Stadium” as suggested by many Zambians

Its a matter of serious concern to the public. How do you have to argue on the naming of a stadium? Serious this has to be a straight foward thing that doesn’t have to raise question marks. I think I see the reason why there is always stagnation in making certain decisions in the developing world. Its because of poor communication I guess. The masses are not always listened to at the same time. Many people do appreciate the fact that that’s their new stadium and are happy about that development. Certain matters that are small are seriously supposed to be left to the masses to decide what they want. I understand and come to appreciate the knowledge of policy analysis that I have about the nature of policy makers. Bad alternatives to simple problems are what we are seing here. Why not base certain decisions on the values of people kanshi!!!!! Eh.
One thing they have to bear in mind also is the fact that their is power in the tongue!!!!!!!

Please Zambians, why can’t you concentrate on other national pressing issues, now. The stadium has already been named, kwasiila! And this is a very good name. At-least us families of the 1993 fallen heros are very happy with this name. Just a mere name mwaimya na matwii, bakambwanga…!!!

Iwe wine you are a Kabwanga atase! Our national stadium in memory of our fallen heroes cannot be named after a foreign country’s name and the word “disaster” in the same breath.
We need to honour OUR heroes (NOT YOUR RELATIVES) with a positive name and not this Gabon Disaster… gibberish. You must be lacking not only in imagination, but also in spiritual perception. The Gabon Disaster …gibberish name is a non-starter and negative for such important and memorable heroes as the 1993 national team and others who perished in that fateful aircrash.
The people who perished off the coast of Libreville belong to Zambia not just to the relatives. FOKOFU ala!

..
..
Mongu stadium once completed to be named as
“All Those Who Died In The Barotse Land Agreement Disaster In The MMD Era National Stadium’’
The Cabinet has also renamed Chibombo District to
‘The Post Bus Fatal Accident National Tragedy District’
in honor of the victims.
Any stadium built in Luena valley will be called
“MAILONI BROTHERS CAPTURED, SHOT AND KILLED BY GALLANT SOLDIER NOT STU.PID POLICE MEN NATIONAL STADIUM”.

That thing cost $ 60 million to build, money that the taxpayers will have to foot while politicians will be enjoying all sorts of tax free incentives. It’s bad enough to pay such a huge debt it’s adding insult to injury to be paying such colossal sums for a disaster.

Heros National Stadium. Reflects on the positive side of that tragedy.Do not name your son Mabvuto just because you have gone through troubles. A name gives character to its owner. Name yo child blessing to focus on the positive side of that problem. Just an opinion!

Gabon disaster
Management is an art of working through others. The resources that public managers manage do not belong to them but to the general public on whose behalf they have been entrusted the very resources. This particular definition indicates that as a manager you need not panic to do everything to either show off, impress or surprise the people you are managing. Any subsequent success or failure will in the long-run affect every stakeholder either directly or indirectly. It therefore calls for the skillful thinking of a person directly or indirectly entrusted with public resources to make good use of them. It is worth noting at this point that human beings in particular Zambians are a valuable resource that needs to be fully utilized in this case. They should be consulted in order to move as a mutually interested one united family.
It is very demeaning to be a Zambian and constantly being bombarded with unrefined statements, statements that lack critical analysis at both national and international levels of the society. Naming a National stadium has an effect at the national level, indeed it is an issue at the sovereign national level, but a situation where another nation’s name is drawn in “Gabon disaster”, then the act exposes our sovereign issue to international scrutiny.
Naming our national stadium Gabon disaster especially after investing huge resources which would have otherwise been used elsewhere definitely has two effects that needs serious analysis and I am challenging every lover of my one and only Zambia to come on board and seriously without prejudice and any sort of inclination to critically analyze the issue and give it a level headedness that it deserves. This issue has an effect on:
• The perception of Zambian soccer funs or any other sporting activity to be hosted in future. The term disaster has an effect of associating the place which is meant to be the venue for BRIDGEBUILDING activities to a place associated with Catastrophe, Calamity , Ruin, Tragedy to say but a few.
• The perception that the Gabonese nationals will have after their only country’s name is explicitly associated with the term Disaster in Zambia. What kind of diplomatic relations do we want to create and have with Gabon?
With due respect I need the level mindedness of Zambians to prevail on this important issue.

We need foresight and insight. the ability to understand the future and the ability to understand the present.
the name Gabon Disaster will betray Zambians in tomorrow to be shouting ” Gabon Disaster” each and every time Zambia will be scored, at anything bad that will happen to a Zambian in the pitch. when Zambia loses people will shout Gabon Disaster!
all those seeing no problem with the name proposed are either mentally blind or have never had any foresight whatsoever.
so, though they win today, they will be the first ones to apply for a change of name before sunset. it will never be called by that name for a long time, two marches are more that enough disaster for all of them to see what they have miserably failed to see day. mark my words.

Let Kambwili name his Farm ‘Garbon Disaster Memorial Farm’ if he feels so passionate about that name!! Of all names surely!!! This is what we mean when we say, this country needs leaders who listen to their masters….the people!!! This, by all means, is a ****** and ridiculous name!!! “Gabon” here in Zambia??? Let him ask the Gabonese if they can name even a chiken run, “Kambwili”! Then he can come and start dictating!!!

Word of advise to the PF, you are unfairly accussed or blamed for the evil occurences that take place. Some sites claiming the regime sacrifices people. In a nation where christian belief runs deep the word disaster doesn’t seat well. Further if the regime insists disaster should be part of the name, suddenly all those stories on ZWD on sacrifice this sacrifice that, will start catching attention.

So now its in black and white: Disaster Kambwili was pushed into diplomacy and quickly recalled by the Cobra when it was evident he was heading into disaster. Gabon Disaster Sata and his boys, strangely even girls like Nkandu whom we thought had brains, are all coming clear as total Disasters for Zambia. Gabon is a sovereign state and you better leave them out of your patriotic disabilities..

Ba PF this time you should listen to what people are saying, this name sounds so demonic, of all the names why give such a name,GOBON DISASTER. Heroes stadium sounds good at least. If this is what the government think should be the name of the stadium, it makes me think twice the level of intelligence in our leaders. If they insist, that the proposed name stands, be assured that once a new government comes in power this will one of the first things they will change. We are not a nation of disasters
