Renard Warns Bafana

Herve Renard plots revenge against Bafana Bafana in Wednesday’s 2013 Cosafa Cup semifinals in Ndola after their 2008 semis defeat.

Bafana beat Zambia 1-0 in the semifinals of the 2008 edition of the tournament on their way to winning the event on home soil.

Zambia beat 3-1 Mozambique in their quarterfinal match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Sunday to book their big date against Bafana on July 17 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

“I remember in 2008 we lost the semifinal against South Africa in South Africa,” Renard said.

“Now we have to take the revenge.”

Renard has yet to win the Cosafa Cup after losing in the 2008 semifinals and 2009 finals to current champions Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Renard said he was relieved to see his experimental side come through with flying colours against Mozambique.

“I think the players did very well today,” Renard said.

“There was a big question mark before this tournament after we started working on this team three months ago.”

Renard is doing quite well with his “second best team”. He is turning out to be quite a Manager. I only hope this small success is helping prepare him for Ghana in Septemeber.
