Govt To Introduce National Airline By End Of Year – Mukanga

Transports, Works, Supply and Communication Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga, says he is hopeful a national airline will re-introduce before the end of this year.

Mr. Yamfwa says the matter is before cabinet and depending on the deliberations of Cabinet the country will have a national airline in place.

He says it has not been easy to compile all the data required to introduce the national airline, adding that this is the more reason why it has taken government time to re-introduce the national flag carrier.

Mr. Mukanga, who is also Kantanshi Member of Parliament, says government is now doing the underground work to ensure that they tighten up policies that will see to it that the airline is a success.

He adds that government remains committed to working hard and ensuring that they fulfill their earlier promise of introducing the national airline this year.

Regardless of losses incurred by regional air lines, Zambia as a country should have her own. This idea of saying because my neigbour is making losses, therefore i cannot do mine is retrogressive to say the least.

not all services provided by govt are profitable , but if the service is needed by the general public goverment has to provide it . A national airlines is a service to the public as it will help other airlines operating into zambia to be more competitive interms of fares .
