Hubby Kills Wife Because She Couldn’t Prepare Him Nshima On Time
A 27-YEAR-OLD Lundazi man has been arrested for allegedly killing his teenage wife because she was late in preparing a meal for him.
Eastern Province police commissioner Grace Chipalila said, in Chipata yesterday, that Abraham Kumwenda was apprehended when his father reported the incident to the police.
“Mr Kumwenda’s father reported that his son had killed his wife. He found his daughter-in-law bleeding from the mouth and eyes and she had a cut on the face,” Ms Chipalila said.
Ms Chipalila said Mr Kumwenda of Filanyandu village in Chief Kapichila told the police that his son had killed his 19-year-old wife identified as Jane Banda.
Ms Chipalila said police suspect that an object was used to hit Ms Banda.
“When the police visited the scene, the body was found with a cut on the eyebrow. An unknown instrument was used on Ms Banda,” she said.
She said Abraham was apprehended and is in police custody.
Ms Chipalila said unconfirmed reports suggest that Jane was working in a cotton field and went home late to prepare a meal for her husband.
“We have reports that Ms Banda was working in a field and that she went home a bit late to prepare dinner,” Ms Chipalila said.
“This could have incensed the husband and a fight broke out. Consequently, the woman was killed,” she said

Men should really be counselled to stop attaching too much importance to being served by women in homes. This woman came from the cotton field late and was expected to prepare nshima on time for her drunkard husband?
Is this fair? Most of these young girls are not in marriages but slavery. There parents sell them off into slavery through the bride price.
This needs to stop as we cannot continue having girl children (like this one @ 19 years of age) dying prematurely.
The husband should receive a life sentence so that he can never harm another woman again.
