CSO: Subsidies Removal Haunting PF

The Consortium of Civil Society organizations championing the Black Friday campaign has charged the removal of subsidies on fuel and maize is haunting the PF government, as the effects of that decision begin to manifest.

Consortium Spokesperson, Macdonald Chipenzi has observed that the escalating prices in food products and non food products such as cement are as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Mr Chipenzi says as CSO’s they feel vindicated by the negative effects of the removal of subsidies.

Speaking to QFM News, Mr. Chipenzi says as the negative effects of the decision to scrap subsidies take their toll, so will the government be haunted.

And Mr Chipezi says as much as the PF government feels antagonized by the Black Friday campaign, they should also realize that the consortium is the true friend to the government because it acts an eye opener to the some matters that government may overlook.

And Mr. Chipenzi has dismissed assertions suggesting that the Black Friday campaign has been suspended.

He says the Consortium has been working underground while awaiting a letter written to President Michael Sata as an initial move to engage into dialogue over the issue of subsidies.

The opposition should not worry about subsidy removal. The ones who should worry are government. Why? because they will loose popularity big time!

So you mean all people will stop suffering as soon as subsidies on maize and fuel are reversed through the black Friday campaign?
This is being absolutely myopic and pathetic in economic analysis.

If PF have to win any bye-election they will just have to rig! They will never win any election, things are bad on the ground and the sooner they get this in their thick ape-like brains the better! It took about 10 years before MMD lost its first bye election, it has take PF only one and half year.

poverty has always been there subsidies too so the removal makes no much difference coz if good roads are built schools hospitals out of it instead of borrowing moneys (correct me if am wrong) then PF has taken a brave stance. however, even if subsides were not removed how many poor people benefit directly and by what percentage does economy grow?

Subsidies are part of taxation system of any country. No country in the world has no subsidies. These are used in wealth redistribution. They are used to cusion the impact of high prices especially of food that the poor majority eat or stapple food. PF made grave mistakes when they just took over power. Instead of studying how to run the country as they implimented RB’s budget, they started changing a lot of things which took a huge chunk of money from the treasury. So they have to find away of getting that money back. Hence susidy removal. It is a matter of incompetence any way.

The Removal of Subsidies is OK. Lets give PF chance run the affairs of the country. They can lose Bye-Elections but they are in control and you will see how the country will change for the better before the end of their term. Goodday

At least the PF is being sincere. The subsidised commodities are usually smuggled into neighbouring countries. The real price of the commodity will help stem shortages. In short we need cheap medicines/good health facilities and good roads plus employment not ubwafilisho even in food which we can generate by ourselves.

Am sure even Hikainde down deep in his hear understands the rewards of this action. But politics being what they are, he say what will please people not what he believes is right.

Ndaje you’re articulating these issues intelligently, those who have ears let them hear. These pipo like Hakainde their aim is to confuse the masses as long as the masses themselves are ignorant about any topic at play.

Am sure the CSO bosses are fat cats feeding off the ignorance of the confused opposition. Subsidies are a form servitude. KK stopped the mines from giving our fathers free rations beans, rice, kapenta etc. He directed that they be paid equivalent in money. How can an able bodied person continue living on alms. Coupons failed because only the rich people saw the advantage and took it. You have been getting free fertiliser for many years- when are you going to be independent? And what have you been doing with this free issue?
